My 18 year old 928 has a grayed-out rear wind deflector, and the plastic on the mirror housings was looking quite aged as well. So, I finally got around to using this restorative product this weekend and the results were excellent.

Procedure: I used the included cleaner solution to prepare the surfaces. Then I masked out the plastic on the mirrors and the rear rubber deflector. I dabbed on three coats waiting about 10 minutes between each coat. It dabs on like the old shoe polish applicators, and may, in fact, be a similar product formulation. After it dried, I removed the tape and layered the coated parts with Klasse A-I-O, SG, and then a hard, long wearing carnauba (Griot`s paste).

Yummy. The parts look brand new. Wish I had before and after pic`s. (Yeah, I need an e-camera, but I still like the old Nikon with the macro lens.)

I`ll report back in a month or two on the wearability of the new finish.

and good news. I`ve been considering Forever Black for my bumpers and mud guards (all black plastic). Will probably breakdown and do it now.

One question... how much area should I expect to cover with one container?

    Thanks in advance.

... That you could do your bumpers and mudguards just about twice with one package. That`s the recommended number of coats. If you can buy it locally, get a spare in case you want / need more.

The key here is to mask the surrounding areas properly. The rest is easy. Enjoy.

The finish on my rear spoiler and side mirror frames has remained black, shiny, and new-looking.

    Enjoy.

    2004 Audi S4 Restorative Correction

Alex @ Sharkwerks picked up this vehicle recently to have a daily driver which was sporty and comfortable, and he found one for the "Cheapness" but with the low pricepoint came some ....uhm issues...

This car would end up needing close to 65 hours of work(90% of the car was wetsanded to correct the finish) even with that the front and rear bumpers were not correctable so a re-spray is planned.

As the car came in.....does not look that bad at first in the sun..

Crud removal during the three hour decon/wash.

    Deep RIDS/Marring.

    50/50 during initial cutting step.

    Hammered trunklid.

    First pass with Mirka 2000.

After that pass, it was onto Mirka abralon 4000.

    Healthy readings after sanding steps.

Rotary compounding with the "Woolie maamoth aka Edge black twisted wool".

    Fruits of my labor....

Entire hood corrected, the only panel that was not sanded!!.

    Burning the "Midnight oil".

    RIDS and road film.

Getting through to the hidden gem this vehicle will be.

    Spot sanding.

    Followed by correction.

"B" Pillars as bad as it gets......

    Coming back to life.

Marred and shinked up re-sprayed rear quarter.

    Heavy sanding.

    O.E. texture and clarity restored.

    More sanding.

    After initial rotary cut.

Amazing (again) work Bob. You show (constantly) that it`s not just the paint correction that counts, but the attention to details that is, in the end, the most important. Stunning, the Audi looks great!

Thanks everyone for the replies, this car is now driveable.........and is on the short list of the sportscars I want to get when the truck is paid off(05-07 Audi S4/08-2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8/Pontiac G8 GXP.

Alex picked up this car for 12K, and bought new wheels(OZ Ultraleggera) flashed it, and will need to re-paint the front and rear bumpers. So for less than 15K he has a clean, quick daily driver.

Incredible as always Bob! I know some people may disagree, but I truly believe the G8 GXP will become a sought-after collectible one day. Being such an amazing car AND the last great Pontiac, along with the bigger engine, 6speed manual and rarity compared to the all-too-common GT will make it increase in value. Even now, low mileage GXPs are still sitting close to their original MSRP. It`s one of the few cars I`d consider selling my M3 for. :2 cents:

Sorry for the threadjack, and top notch work Bob. I always look forward to your write-ups and pics.

Awesome work as always Bob!

One question.....What`s the deal with these holes drilled in the door seam? Looks like they have bare metal exposed and I can`t figure out why they`d be there as they don`t appear to be factory holes...weather strip holes maybe??? I`ve seen it done on exterior panels to pull a dent out, but not in a location like that.....
