Hey all, I have many questions but no answers to satisfy them. First off, I want to by the Porter Cable Random Orbital Buffer (7424 I think). I see that Maguiars and Griots see them but under there name. However, they are considerably more expensive. I don`t know anything about these machines. I have no idea what kind of pads to buy or from whom. Given that, it makes buying it from Maguiars or Griots more attractive. I have read stuff about counter weights. I have no idea! I also really don`t know if there is any method or technique to using this thing. The Maguiars one comes with a video. I would hate to ruin my paint. Another one.... can 3M IHG be used with the PC? Hence the word, "hand glaze," I don`t know. Anyway, what should this ol` chap do? Thanks guys and sorry about barrage of questions. -Cliff

Yes, 3M IHG can use used by machine. Griots and Meguiars are overpriced on the PC 7424. Try www.coastaltool.com they have them for $115. Or you can buy the 7336 from Lowes for $109 which is the same machine. As for pads and backing plate I like the kit from CMA www.properautocare.com It has the 6`` velcro backing plate for quick change and a wide assortment of pads.

If you get the 7336 you will not need to get a new counterweight, it comes already fitted with the proper size. If you get the 7424 you will need to get a 6`` counterweight to match the 6`` backing plate from the CMA kit, which you can get from Coastal Tool.

Wonderful. Thanks. I probably will end up getting the 7336 and just getting the kit from properautocare. Thanks again.

    2004 Ford Expedition

    2004 Ford Expedition, 103k miles.

    One step exterior.

    Before:

Wheels, tires, and wells cleaned with SD, WB, APC, DC car wash, and various brushes.

The truck was handwashed with Gold Class Shampoo.

Rinsed, then dried with Water Magnets.

I clayed the paint with Blue Mild Clay and LT at 1:1.

I did a one step with M66 Quick Detailer Cleaner/Wax applied with my PC.

Tires and wells dressed with ASD.

Glass cleaned inside and out with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1.

I used to have a 2000 Expy that color..

Nick - have you done any newer Expeditions with leather? Curious what you think of them (say 2007 - 2010).

This one had leather in it.

I did the interior, but only did a writeup on the exterior since thats all I had time for.

I did an 07 almolst two years ago but cannot remember anything sepcial about it. I did not run into any problems with it.

I have done a lot of F-150s with leather in them, I would imagine Ford puts the same leather seats in the Expedition as they do the F-150s.

Yes Nick, that darn Ford leather that seems to easily stain/wear at the corner/edge of the driver`s seat. That and the perfs that suck compared to my older leather seats (I will admit the perfs are nice for the A/C portion of the seat). Any hints on what works best for these??~X(

I have seen some older Expeditions with extremely worn out leather.

I just do the best I can to make them feel and look like new.

I usually clean the leather with APC and a small brush, then wipe them down with plain water, then use a leather conditoner.

A single drivers side seat has taken me up to an hour to clean and condition.
