How about $1000.00 Cash money under the seat. Loaded pistols in the glove box. Many credit cards. I have seen everything over the years.

This wasn`t during a car detail but......

I took a vehicle extracation, patient stabilization class at our local training facility. We would get wrecked cars from the local junk yard and tear the roofs off, rip the doors open etc. to practice. When we cut the door apart from a car we found a LARGE (about 2 lbs) bag of pot.

We had fun taking turns posing for pictures with it until the donut eaters got there. They didn`t think it was funny at all. :bounce

I think that my screweyness gets point out just as much as yours .

I have found some really sick stuff.

    Open condoms (unused thank god!)

    Tampons (unused thank god!)

Drugs, about two ounces of pot, ooops I mean one once of pot and some other stuff.

One time I vacuumed something up that sounded really wierd, I checked the container and it was a diamond earing she lost about a month ago.

The thing i find most which I do not understand, is money. Do these people really forget that they misplaced a $100.00 bill.

But this is how you keep your customers for life, give it back and say you found it under your seat.

Blunt wraps (papers), a bag of weed, tons of expensive cigars, Maxim, Playboy, and a few other porn magazines, many guns and kinives, lots of cash, lots of half eaten french fries, cookies, and some other foods, a mini bottle of Jack Daniels, quite a bit more stuff... I have seen it all.

But the one thing that still disgusts me to this day...

As many of you know I have clients on the Rockets team. No names, sorry. Anyway, one of them has a pretty big body guard. 6`3 and around 450 - 500lbs. Yes, really that big. I was cleaning out his Suburban a few months ago when I came across what I thought was a du-rag. I picked it up and folded it nicely when I saw it was no du-rag, but a giant thong.

I nearly lost my lunch all over the car. I had just touched a huge man thong that I found under a car seat.

I have to be careful how I say this, here it goes I found some incriminating articles in a affaliate of a very organized philadelphian , thats probally too much but I doubt the mob hangs out on autopia on another occasion I found 100k in cash , two tech nines and at least 10 bricks of cocaine. All this behind the seat of a suburban , if it wasn`t for the window tint you could walk up and see it. Thats the car I got a really good tip on.

So the consensus is... Detail Customers usually leaves:

    1) Drugs

    2) Guns

    3) Sex Toys/Catalogs

    4) Decaying living organisms...

hehe... that about sums it up...

I was in high school and borrowed my brother`s Jeep Grand Cherokee and went duck hunting. We got a couple more mallards than we should have, so I stuck one in the rear side compartment where the jack and tools were. I forgot all about the duck--my brother could not figure out what was reaking--so he took it to be cleaned and the detailer found the duck. He was less than happy with me.

He got me back though--he borrowed my hunting jacket to go dove hunting and left a couple of doves in the rear bag (September). The coat ended up at my mom`s house in the coat closet. Poor woman couldn`t figure out what the strange order was around the closet and washer and dryer. Had a guy from Sears come out to check the washer and dryer. It wasn`t until I used the coat to go pheasant hunting in November that I maid the fun discovery after putting my hand in the bag pouch.

He said he completey forgot about the birds--I still wonder...:argue

I used to work as a security guard while I was in college. A friend of mine was working when a older, but not too old gentleman went running out of the building to catch a bus. Something fell from around his head onto the floor. My friend yelled to him, but the guy just kept going. It turns out they were his teeth. The whole set. The guy never came back for them either. They were still sitting in the lost + found when I stopped working there.

Does it bother some of you to have cocaine dealers for clients? I`m not sure what I would do in those situations.

I`m glad this thread was started because I have been wondering:

1.) Do you ever worry about sticking your hand under a seat, in a side pocket, etc and getting stuck with a hypodermic needle?

With all the other drug related items people find, I wouldn`t be surprised if some cars had these in them...

2.) If you have to clean up a particularly gross interior, do you charge extra?

3.) Do you advise your customers to go through their cars beforehand and remove things of "value?"

Good questions. I think that when people are at the stage of using needles for drugs, they are probably spending all their extra money for drugs so they are not likely to get the family wheels detailed. Fortunately most diseases do not live long outside the body but I would be extra careful if I saw evidence of I.V. drug use.

also I always make sure to LOOK with a flashlight before sticking my hand blindly anywhere in a vehicle, simply because you can be poked by seat frames/mechanisms under seats and such regardless of whether there`s something else there or not.

Wouldn`t have to be a needle used for heroin, etc. - could just be an insulin hypodermic needle. But still a good way to pick up hepatitis, or at least a nasty infection! I was thinking it would be a good idea to use a flashlight (like SLD said) and maybe wear some good gloves while cleaning under a seat, etc until you know what you`re dealing with...!
