Highway speeds average 70-84mph.
Best speed 120mph
Best time 117 with a trooper in the passengers seat and he had the "white knuckle express" going on. Fear...gota love it.

I am so lame.

I have done a few long runs at upward of 140 on several highway rallys. However my claim to fame was 117 in a 25. Because of me they put stop signs on a windy street all the way down. It was the stupidest thing I have ever done in my life. Almost five times the speed limit is just plain stupid.

The fastest I`ve gone in my Alfa was over 240km/h (150mph) on `S` rated tires!!! I didn`t really look down at the speedo that much, but I watched it pass the 240 mark. When going that fast, I went around a slight bend in the highway that I didn`t realize was that sharp. Well let`s just say that I almost crapped my pants as my car drifted from the inside lane to the outside lane . I`ve just got a new Sharp video camera, and I think I want to get a clip of a 150+ mph blow-by. I`d love to hear what it sounds like with the engine singing at 6500+rpm.
Hey ryan_eyres, what town do you live in? I live in Nanaimo. I`ve only come across one other Autopian from Vancouver Island.
PS watch out for the hwy patrol.
565 knots in an RA5-C Vigilante, Key West to the central Florida coast in 20 minutes!!

147 in a Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I used to work for the Sheriff`s Dept. I was chasing an old 944 Porsche. His motor blew and he crashed out. I almost crashed from all of the oil, but I got stopped in time to pull him from the wreckage. I was also the follow car in a chase with a crotch rocket on the interstate, got up to 125, and Lt. called the chase off.
Just out of interest what [alleged] offense was committed by the driver of the 944 that warranted a chase speed of 147 MPH?
My speeding record- 16th birthday, first car, Triumph TR3A, booked at 95 MPH, must have become wiser maybe, nothing 50+ years anon
What gets overlooked too often is that one must be a student before becoming a teacher.

Sometimes the reason that speed limiters are set at a particular level is due to the speed rating of the tires, fwiw.

Heh heh once you`re into the triple-digits the radar detector simply turns into a citation announcer

In town within 5mph of the speed limit. On the highway about 10mph over with the ocassional "let`s open her up runs." My K40 has served me well.
I`ve touched 140 in my old integra, that was pretty interesting..
I`ve gone 155 in my cobra. The cobra took about half the time to acheive this.

Yeah, usually the 5/10 over is about all you can get away with even with a good detector, and if you`re all alone when you get hit with instant-on/laser you`re toast anyhow. When you go for the really big numbers it`s just a matter of luck. Even getting down to the limit with *heavy* braking can get you cited if the LEO wants to be a [mean guy]. And once you get pulled over, it`s all matter of how the LEO wants to play it.
