Detailed: 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Fastest I`ve ever gone is 130 on 95 south...I was racing a...get this...a Ford F-350 Dually, Cummins Turbo diesel. I just KNEW that his governor would kick in, but it never did. Couldn`t believe that he stayed with me...good thing I didn`t get caught.

Did get caught doing 71 in a 40...Mitsubishi Eclipse GS...showing off for my friend...now he has a WRX :xyxthumbs

Here`s a story for you from a mountie I know in BC:

He`s doing a radar trap at 3am (beautiful night, no clouds, nice and warm out). He`s got his window down, when he hears a car coming and from the sound of it, the car is flying! He pulls the trigger on the radar gun to get ready, but doesn`t see anything.... the enigne still getting louder. All of a sudden the radar gun lights up at 328kph and something blasts past him. He didn`t see anything (no lights, no vehicle, nothing!). He radio`s up to one of the toll booths set up and tells them to stop anything sporty.

When he gets there, the only vehicle that was there was the operator`s silver truck and a guy in a black viper. The guy is all pissed off cause he`s been held up. The cop asks to search the viper and the guy is very cool and hands over the keys. Nothing in the trunk, under seats, or any where else. The cop goes to check the glove box, but it`s locked. Now the guy is getting a little nervous, so the cop opens up the glove box with the key and you`d never guess what he found........:nixweiss

Night vision goggles!

The guy ripped out the daytime running lights and turned off all lights on the viper and then raced down the highway. How`s that for speeding...I think the limit was only about 100kph. :shocked

HOLY COW, thats like 203mph according to my calculations. That is one man that takes his speeding seriously. I couldn`t even afford the night goggles let alone the viper.

Heh heh, Accumulatorette is a little different. Last big number I pulled was 139, when I slowed down she calmly asked "why`d you back off so soon?" Sounded mildly disappointed/concerned, like maybe I`d felt something amiss with the car. She falls asleep when I stay in the 90`s, but then we`ve done a good bit of motoring together.

Same deal with me here. I was driving a friend`s Thunderbird Supercoupe to the Casino in Windsor, Ontario on the 401 (3 am)and my buddies kept egging me on to keep hammering it faster and faster. Previous to this the fastest I had ever driven was 190 kmh when I was in high school and I was terrified way back then. We got the thing going 200 kph and I thought for sure it was going to kick off but it just kept going. We ended up burying the needle at 240 kmh and it kept pulling! I couldn`t believe it. It turns out the previous owner was a mechanic at the local ford dealer who had tweaked it for speed. I will never, ever do that again.

It is actually a Power Stroke Diesel in a Ford. The Cummins is in the Dodge. Plus, if the Ford was chipped that eliminates the governor.

I get a lot of surprised looks from my truck as well. A big Ford Super Duty with a V10 and 4.30 gears; you can not , mess with 300 Hp and 410 lb. ft. of torque!!!

Actually, the future Mrs. PrinzII is a bit of a leadfoot herself. But she tends to

when she hears me hitting triple digit speeds.

She is comfortable with me hitting 80-90 and that`s fine by me.

Many, many years ago...when I was young and stupid...I owned a 1966 VM bug..hvly modified with a 914 eng stuffed into it..dual Webers..beefed susp, transporter rims, etc etc. The car LOOKED stock..except for the little glass pack hanging out under the rear bumper. Nice Sunday morning ..7:30am..coming down a small 2 lane hgwy in Massachusetts doing about 90mph..came around a bend to see that all too familiar black early radar gun sticking out of the bushes. They used to use these remote radar guns..the officer would be 1/4 mile further up the road so he could just step out in the middle of the road and wave you over. I saw the radar gun and locked up the brakes...slowed to about 40mph...came over the little crest in the road...sure enough, Barney Fife standing in the road waving me over. The look on the officer`s face was priceless!! He walked over to me..kinda stupified..said he clocked me doing 92mph. I looked up incredulously and said, "officer ..this is a VW Beetle!! I can`t go over 60mph...downhill!!" He literally scratched his forehead...mumbled something about cheap fr****in equipment and told me to takeit nice and easy. I got about 500 ft away and left a cloud of tire smoke!!

The remote radar story brings back a time when I was zooming on the Palisades Pkwy coming home from college. I have no idea how fast I was going, but it was FAST! The cop jumps out of his car and stands in the left lane with his hand up to stop. There was no freakin` way!!!! He jumped out of the way and I swerved slightly and stopped a 1/4 mile down the road. I could have easily hit and killed him, no problemo. He walked it... I thought he was going to arrest me for attempted murder! My hair was down to my shoulders as were my passengers, one of whom was a hitch hiker. The cop was not a happy camper and gave me a ticket, but looked us all over pretty carefully before hiking it back to his car. What a dope! Speaking of which, I`m sure there was plenty in the car somewhere.....

I see Autopia has a serious Need for Speed!

My Civic tops out at 125 mph. Had it up there several times. A few weeks ago, I was racing a `95 or `96 Mustang (V6 not a GT) and I was suprisingly getting the best of him. Going 115 in a 45, we pass a cop coming the opposite direction. The cop turns around throws on his lights, I mash even harder, dart through traffic, and I see the `stang get hung up in traffic. He probably got the cuffs....I didn`t hang around long enough to find out..

I gotta get a radar detector..
