scratched the crap out of my truck!

Well it`s the elk bowhunt here currently and although I try to keep my truck pretty clean, it is a truck and so it must do duty for hunting season. (plus an elk won`t fit in the back of the wife`s Scion Xa). I managed to take a wrong turn in the dark and ended up on a trail that went up a really steep off camber hill that a 1/3 of the way up turned into a trail only wide enough for a 4 wheeler. Unfortunately the incline made it to hard to back down so I had to finish the climb to turn around and come back down. Needless to say the truck got hammered by brush on both sides. About a month ago I had applied some BFWD, and then the day before I left I put another "insurance" coat of BFWD just in case. Really glad I did because I needed it. The truck needed to be buffed out, but I believe the BFWD kept the scuffs closer to the surface making it easier to correct. I used 105/ 205 with 6.5 LC flat pads orange and white. There were a few spots where I pulled out a purple Kompressor pad for the really bad stuff.

As a side note I did a little test w/ a combo of other stuff, the front fender and door I did with System 1. I was so impressed with how it finished that my second step I went right to Menenza Final Polish. I could not tell the difference in the panels between the Meguiars and the new combo.

I finished the entire truck with a coat of BFWD and then a coat of P21S 100% pure wax.

I only took pics of the passenger side as both sides were just as ugly..... here are the pics:

Nice save!! Seeing your work gives me hope in that I might be able to take some of the scratches out of my truck. My truck is riddled with those scratches. What kind of machine were you using and on what speed?

    I used a Flex XC3401VRG Dual-Action Polisher :
    for 105 speed 5-5.5 w/ orange pad
    for 205 speed 4 w/ a white pad.

I actually started w/ a PC and a 4" pad thinking I would hit the bad spots but there were so many little scratches everywhere I ended up going w/ the Flex and a larger 6.5" pad and doing the whole truck. I think the key was lot`s of pressure w/ the 105.

I use Meg`s All Season Dressing on the tires.

Not on that pass, not sure where that is. I was kinda near the corner of Utah, Idaho, Wyo. I did not get my elk, I was very close until some other hunters spooked 2 herds of about 30 head each right out of the drainage I was hunting. I have til Sept. 11 when the season closes. if I do get one there will be plenty of pics!!

Good luck on your next time out. I hear that elk meat is awesome. I was once in Montana and got to meet some of the locals and they were telling me all about the great hunting there is up there. Long story short, one of them gave me ten pounds of frozen elk and deer. Guess what? Dumb @$$ me forgot it in the hotel freezer!! I was already at the airport getting ready to board my flight when I remembered about it. :banghead:
