2003 Silverado... 12" Lift... Wash/Wax

Here`s a 2003 Black Silverado I did...

He wanted it washed/waxed/wheelwells cleaned & dressed. This was done on a Friday and he was going to a truck show the next morning.

The 12" lift and oversized tires made it a "ladder" job.:w00t:

No "before" pics. Truck was pretty clean, wheelwells just looked like street-driven, not "mudding".:smile:

Process:

Pressure washed wheelwells, let air dry
Saturated wheelwells with Chemical Guys Undercarriage spray, air dry
Washed with Meguiars Gold Class Carwash
Dried with Toro Leaf Blower/Big Blue
Clayed with Meg`s Quik Clay
"Waxed" with Z2Pro (x2)
Final Wipedown with Z8
Wheels cleaned with Mothers Chrome Polish
Wheels sealed with Z2Pro
Dressed Tires with Chem Guys VRP

So, how hard was it to constantly move the ladder and operate the PC?

I would imagine you would have had to charge a little extra for the height.

There was no polishing on this job, and I just applied the sealant by hand.

Once I stood in the bed of the truck I could reach most of the roof (long-Luster-arms!).

So I only had to use the ladder on the front and center portions of the roof and hood.

I actually duct-taped the lower portion of the ladder with an old blanket just in case of one of my patented "Luster Brain-Farts". A 6-foot aluminum ladder scratch is something I wanted to make sure DIDN`T HAPPEN!!!!Stop:w00t:

I bill out everything by the hour , regardless of the job... interiors, polishing, waxing, undercarriage, hazardous waste removal, whatever!:thumbup:

When I`m bidding the job, I will tell the customer it will be X dollars per hour and I estimate X hours, plus or minus 30 minutes.

As we used to say in the "Olden Days", It all pays the same!!!:hurray:

Believe me, that sucker is WAY up in the air. I`m 6`-4" and the roof was much higher than the top of my head! You can see how tall it is compared to the garage door!

To pressure wash the wheel wells, I actually took the truck to the coin op car wash, spent about 5 minutes per wheel, blasting everything!

I had an old electric pressure washer... now at the dump (about what it was worth!)

I like the CG Undercarriage spray... seems to be fairly dry to the touch once it sits for 30 minutes or so. I`m not a long-time user... but my neighbor has Griots Garage UC spray and I think it`s the same stuff for half the price!

Longevity... not really, but it does repel water, mud, etc for a while after application. Definitely makes them easier to clean the next time!!!:hurray:
