    Lettering Removal - No Fun

Here are a couple before and afters from a detail yesterday on a 2005 Ford former work truck. Equipment used to get off lettering: hair dryer (cannot believe I didn`t burn this thing up), large plastic scraper, thumb nails, 3M adhesive cleaner (by the way this stuff is awesome). Took 3 1/2 hours to remove lettering on both doors, both bed sides and tailgate. If I had to do this again would probably invest in a heat gun.

good job with that. I know what that is like. Thumb nails! Ouch!! They do sell an `eraser` for that. It goes on the end of your drill.I have to get on myself. I think around $30.00 or so.

I learned two things doing a job similar like this over the summer...one using a hair dryer or heat gun....You have to be careful how hot you get the paint, you can burn or discolor the clear. Second..3M has an eraser wheel that attached to a drill that makes short safe order on the letters or adhesive

Nice work, how`s your finger nails feel today!

Nice job. Something else to keep in mind when using a heat gun, be careful around plastic trim, mirrors, door handles, etc. I saw a hired hand here at work burn everything on a truck up once lol. Hair dryers are safer but heat guns are faster. I guess one has to pick their poison.

yea an eraser wheel would have finished that job in no time..they don`t damage the paint either.
