I had my father bring my car to the dealers bodyshop to fix some paint chips that were present when i bought my car. Also when i bought the car there were many swirlmarks and fine scratches all over the car which were put there either when the dealer washed the car or buffed it before delivery. The assistant manager said that they got in a new polymer coating in that would fill in and fix the scratches swirls etc.Now my question is does anyone have any idea opinions etc. on what this might be and would it be a fix like he said or a something thats just going to hide the problem and reappear after the cars washed etc.Thanx in advance.

Its a short term fix. Any coating will degrade over time, especailly when it is exposed to the elements. The swirls and scratches will reappear once the coating starts to degrade. The only way to remove swirls for good is polishing with an abrasive compound.

Sounds like a scam job. Any coating, be it polymer, acrylic or glaze will be a temporary fix to just hide swirls. If this is his answer to the problem, he probably doesn`t have a very good detailing department with enough experience to correct the problem or even to prevent it in the first place.

Talk about an open ended question........Do you have a particular brand in mind that you are curious about?

I have used "quick detail" sprays from various companies like Meguiars, Blackfire, Eimann Fabrik, Menzerna, Sonus, Pinnacle and so on. I use them on my wheels to remove brake dust. I use them in my door jams to remove water spots. I use them on the entire car to increase shine in between details.

Be carful in what you call a quick detail spray, though. Some of them may have incresed levels of polymers of waxes designed to do more that just remove finger prints. I would say "categorically" I like detail sprays.

Eimann Fabrik is a good general spray for removing finger prints and touch ups between washes.

Balckfire is good to prolong the coverage of a polymer sealant.

Give one a shot, I am sure you will find a use for it somewhere in your routine.

As Biolink says, detailing sprays can range from just cleaners to basically a liquid spray wax product. Are you looking for cleaning, gloss/slickness, or both.

On the cleaning extreme you have the waterless wash products, then products like Meg`s Quik Detailer, Mothers Showtime and then to gloss/slickness adding products such as DG Aquawax and many other sprays. The latter are applied to clean surfaces.

As far as QD`s are concerned, I`ve been using Z6 for over 10 years and it has always been my Number 1.:w00t: I`ve stated here on TID, that I`m a bit of a QD junky... but I always come back to Z6.:Innocent:

I have one bottle in each of my vehicles one in my mobile detail bag and one in my garage/shop.

Excellent cleaning ability and slickness. (Smells good too!)

I`ve tried Meguiars, and Mothers and they both leave streaks on my black car, could it be the wax underneath?

I doubt it. Have you been applying in direct sunlight?

No I apply it in the garage. I use a microfiber towel to apply and one to wipe off.

Not sure... make sure you don`t use fabric softener when you wash and dry your microfibers. Also, you could be using too much product. Two sprays should do half the hood.

Is the car fairly clean when you start?

If it`s too dusty or dirty, it should be washed rather than QD`d.

Not quite a Detailing Spray, but Optimum Car Wax is a spray wax that adds a very nice feel and look to the finish. It took but 15 minutes to completely cover the vehicle, and I was very happy with the results.
