    Re: 1999 SVT Mustang Cobra-PICTURES!

    I`d hate to see the insurance on a Shelby GT 500! I wonder if Ford will also introduce a special edition such as the GT 350, kinda like what they did with the Mach 1 and the Bullitt. Something not as expensive as the Cobra but not as generic as the base GT model.

    wjlane;

    rumor has it that in 06 they are releasing a few new models one of which is the return of the BOSS 302!!! which should be an intresting return! I have also heard that there will be a Mach 1 and a Bullit....

    Unfortunatly the one thing that ford needs to do is get someone in there that knows suspensions. For some reason ford doesn`t seem to realize that the Mustang is WAY too high off the ground while i know its not always 100% practical but the car has more groud clearence than some trucks that I have seen! ... Hopefully someday ford will figure this out!

    Great looking car.

    I heard that the GT500 is going to be around 40K. I read that in Hot Rod this month. I am seriously considering one. This is coming from a guy that has owner 4 Camaros. I loved tham all, especially the last one, a 2002 SS. I had to get rid of it for gas mileage reasons. I was driving 80 miles one way to work everyday. I now work a lot closer and Chevy no longer makes the Camaro. It might be a 06 GT500 for me.

    Thanks for the comments!

    Wow! I didn`t know they planned on coming out with so many special editions. The reaction to the new Mustang has been awesome. I know when they first came out, dealers were pushing them for $3k over the sticker. I don`t know if that has calmed down yet or not but I still do not see any GT`s sitting on local lots. Some new owners are having to wait months for their GT to be built. I agree with the suspension. The car would look so much meaner lower to the ground, not to mention handle a lot better.

    Anyone else eyeballing the new Shelby GT500? Can`t wait to see the real numbers on a dyno instead of Ford`s under estimated 450 HP!

    Wow! That`s a lot of horses in the stable. Insurance alone on a Shelby might cost the same as the premiums on both of your other cars combined!

    It`s a shame that you`re selling your Cobra....

    As far as the GT500, I love its specs (except the weight), but I`m still on the fence as far as the bodystyle.....whatever happens, I`m keeping my SN95. Just have to start squirreling away money for the suspension and motor I wanna put in it :hot
