Since I`m a graphic designer by trade (specializing in the automotive industry) I feel compelled to chime in here.

A business owner `should` stress out over their logo. Afterall, when a customer sees a logo, in their mind, they immediately get a sense for the type of quality provided based on the image of the logo.

I agree that great work and excellent customer service drives a business...but that is assuming that you get some clients through the door in the first place in order to prove yourself. Word of mouth speaks volumes in EVERY business (probably 90% of my business is from word of mouth) but there are people out there who may not have spoken to anyone and are seeking out a business on the web, phone book, etc and your "logo" is what will hook them and entice them to call.

That`s not to say that a person with a weak logo "doesn`t" provide good service, but if the brand identity looks weak, it gives the impression that you don`t take pride in your business and `could` cost you possible work from the simple fact that your competitor down the way has a professionally done logo and his image comes across as more professional and well put together.

Having a `professionally` designed logo assures that you have a solid brand image and going forward, people will see the logo, see your work and associate them together.

Hiring a professional is the best way to go about getting the proper logo designed, one that is simple, concise, and works properly for all business collateral. You wouldn`t hire an average person to detail your car...you want someone who is skilled in that field and will provide you the best possible work. The same should go for `all` facets of your business.

Take pride in your business as it can only grow based on how much time and effort you invest into it.

Okay...I`m off my soap box for now.
