    What do you do when....

    ....a customer doesn`t pick up their vehicle?

    I`ve got a nice `05 Chevy Silverado crew cab truck sitting in my driveway right now, that I`ve been waiting now for two days for the owner to come and pick up. While it`s nice to have it sitting there with signs in it advertising my business, it is going to become a problem if it doesn`t get picked up soon -- it`s kind of in the way for me to do other work.

    The stupid part here is, this owner has called me, and I`ve called him more than once about picking up the vehicle. He`ll give me a time, and then never show up for the truck. What would you guys do in this situation? The guy only lives a couple blocks away, but I am NOT going to just drop the truck at his house and leave it there before getting paid for the job.

    Advice is appreciated

    Wow!! I would just nicely explain to him what you said that his vehicle is getting in the way of your being able to work and if he doesn`t come pick it up you`ll have to charge him a storage fee of so many dollars per day. LOL Maybe that will motivate him??

    All of my customers, can`t wait to get their car`s back, even if it goes right into the garage and doesn`t get driven.


    Do you think there might be a family emergency or something stressful in his life going on?

    Well he finally picked it up tonight, with absolutely NO reaction whatsoever! He just handed me the money, took the keys and said "see ya later!"

    I`m stunned, to say the least. I`ve never had a customer who seemed to care so little for their vehicle!

    Wow!! It takes all kinds to make the world go round, no? I you want you can detail my car for me! I`ll pick it up right away and I promise to jump up and down for joy when I see it!

    I think the customer was short of cash, due to the ever rising interest rate and the ever rising cost of gasoline. He probably had to wait until he`d scraped up enough dough to pay you, SLD. That would certainly qualify as something stressful, G35stilez.

    Not this guy.... I KNOW that`s not the case with him. So...

    And it`s not so much the emotionless pick-up that bugs me, it`s that he showed up late, no "Sorry," no "Thanks," nothing. Most people are at least able to show common courtesy, but this guy was pretty much comatose.

    Oh well -- if this guy calls again, "I`m booked, sorry!" I`ve got enough other customers comming and going, anyway...
