    Well... the word is out.

As some of you know, I have a part time job and detail on the side for friends and coworkers (It works, I`m going to be a senior in highschool this year.)

I haven`t detailed any car but my own in over a month. I mean, I make decent money at my part time job, but a little extra from detailing never hurts. I don`t advertise anywhere but my AIM profile, but word of mouth has taken over. On vacation, my parents mentioned to my aunt that I detail, after she said that she was in dire need of a car cleaning. So, that was one job. In turn, she recommended me to another aunt. Somehow, the word reached my great aunt, who is 70-some years old and wants me to detail her car so she can squeeze some value out of it when she sells it or trades it in. On top of that, a manager from the restraunt I work at was fired about a month ago. I ran into her at a gas station, and after some small talk, she inquired about a detail on a Durango. So in the next two weeks, I will be doing four full details. I know thats not much to you guys, but that`s a sh!t-ton for me.

    1. 2004 Lexus SUV (400?)
    2. 2005 Nissan Murano
    3. 1997 Nissan Sentra
    4. 2001 Dodge Durango.

On top of that, the owner of the restraunt I work at has hired me to polish the tables at the restraunt. They are wood with a fancy design, and clear coat (or lacquer?) about a quarter inch deep. He had them wetsanded and buffed a year ago, but they are hazy, have drink rings, and scratches in them. I agreed to polishing and waxing them with the PC, and all he said was to give him a reciept for the product used. He`s not paying me labor, as I am to clock in to do the work - but he is paying for the product in full. He has no intrest in letting me do his car (2005 Volkswagon TouaregV8) thats never been washed.

    5. 25 to 30 tables that seat 2 to 8 people.

I know what you mean. Most of the hobbyists that I know get all their jobs word of mouth. Looks like you`ll be having some extra cash soon. Congratulations.
Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?"
Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."

That`s great, sounds like an awesome start to building a business that may eliminate the need for your part-time job.

The only negative that I see is that your boss may be taking advantage by having you fix up the tables and only pay for your materials. Your time/effort while performing this task is more valuable than your regular "clocked" time. At least he should let you detail his truck for a couple hundred$.
