I gotta agree with the black Mercedes G-wagon - I`ve done one and it was a pain!!! From a polishing/waxing standpoint - the vehicle has more crevices and obstacles on teh exterior than anything else. And I had wax dust that i had to clean out of evvvery crack afterwards.

Mini Vans can be the worst. Checkout my web page for the pics they are horrifying. The web page is not done but click on untitled and look at the pics.
2 days and $350 dollars later just for a interior. The only reason I did it was for a favor of a really really good customer. This was her daughters mini van.

Re: Least favorite car to detail...

2005-06 Black Trailblazer my friend owns. No matter what I do to it, or how long I spend on it, It never looks clean.

My Jeep when I got it, after my mom had it. It was more or less a hand-me-down I had to pay for, somewhat. I spent an entire weekend just making it "decent." Spilled coffee on console and gauges (somehow), spaghetti sauce on passenger side floormat from grocery shopping, endless crumbs, wrappers, and coins, grains from hauling cornstalks INSIDE, paint on seats, and maybe a pound of paint and tar stuck on the outside and fenderwells. The rims were stained from a lack of washing, brown raised white letters, it was just a wreck, worst detail of my life. I spent the first week of owning it in a somewhat clean car, and the weekend after that, I finished it up real nice.

    Sorry about the novel...?

Re: Least favorite car to detail...

In my very limited experience I hafta say my parent`s 02 Nissan Xterra, it has so much plastic on it. That is one of the main reasons I love my truck so much, just one little square of plastic on the back. But I haven`t bought a step ladder yet so the top of my truck always has certain spots that I can`t reach even standing in the bed.

The way my driveway is, one side is usually in the sun, and one side isn`t. The side of the car that is not in the sun usually looks sick, but once you walk around to the sunny side, BOOM! Swirls. Once I move it, water seems to pour out of every crevice and seam. It`s just an all around tough car to get right, but once it is clean, it looks alright. It just doesn`t look finished when I`m done. I think it may be the swirls. I have yet to tackle those, as it`s been cold here for quite some time.

Also sounds like maybe you`re working by hand? Yeah, on GM black it doesn`t suprise me that it won`t cut it.

Re: Least favorite car to detail...

My 01 Explorer Sport sucks to clean. The carpet gets all "bally"? It gets really fuzzy in the cargo area when i vacuum (anyone have any remedys?). And all the way around there is a line of gray plastic that I don`t want to wash with my wash mitt because it get so dirty so i end up washing the whole car then hitting that bottom area and the rear bumper with an APC and a brush to clean it. The interior is small too which makes it hard to work around. U know what else is a PITA is electric seats in a 2 door car. My drivers side is and it sucks because it takes forever to move it forward then back again to clean the back seat and front seat areas.

I do everything by hand, sadly. I refuse to use my father`s "buffer," because it`s a grinder with a few buffing wheels. That includes the big bolt square in the center, and I`m not risking scratching the car or burning the paint off trying to keep it on an angle...
