I am from a city that reqiures that nothing goes down the storm drains other than rain water. That means that for some reason my 5 gallons of washing water can`t go down. I talked to my local water division and they recommended that i use sand bags around the drains and then pump the water up or some how dike the water from going down. I have just started detailing and don`t have alot of money to buy reclaiming equipment. Does anyone know a way that i can accomplish my goal? What do ya`ll do? Thanks!

We dont have that problem here yet i dread the thought of having to buy the equipment and the extra time collecting and emptying the drum .
Prices for washing on site would increase significantly.

I dont see any other way here for you but to conform if your just starting out the last thing you need is a fine.
But you could just hit the residential area if that ruling does not apply there?
Or you could perhaps look into some of those dry wash products try and save as much as possible to get your self profesionaly kitted out .

Its a tough one I know but its better than giving up I have been doing this 5 years now and have around 20k tied into my work van equipment etc.

One tip get your prices right on day one as its hard to up sell a higher rate as you gain experiance and invest in your work.

Use QEW (ProtectAll Quick and Easy Wash).

It only requires one gallon of water, and, if you`re careful, none of it ends up on the ground. And no rinsing. Just wash with a MF and dry with a second MF.

It`s very simple and quick process that can easily replace conventional hose and bucket washing.... when you`re finished, just flush it down the toilet or drain.

Do a search for QEW and you`ll get numerous threads on that topic....

I use it every week, all year round.

Go to rightlook.com, they have a small (about 5 ft.) berm that hooks up to your shopvac. Just direct the water to it with sand bags and the berm does the rest. Much, much cheaper than a mat or vacuboom. I think I paid about $200 for the berm and it works just fine. The berm is located in their water containment section of the website. Good luck.
