    Tip for Mobile detailers ..

On my quest to give back to DC and help other detailers I came across something this weekend . Wheel cleaning . On my regular monthly or weekly washes for clients I`ve stopped using harsh chemicals for wheel cleaning .

I grab my 2 wheel brushes and my Megs Gold Class car wash and make a bucket . If you wash the car 1st you can use the left over soap for the wheels . Depending on how your regime is. And the weather . Don`t want any waterspots to set in .

Here`s the new brush I picked up and its great . About $7 at the local supply shop. Alot better than the wally world or K mart stuff.

Notice how it gets in between the calipers with ease.

afters with a little no-touch tire care from Costco and applied with a foam applicator . I use these steps for weekly or monthly clients washes. So they want a long lasting tire gel and on my next visit all the silicone is gone.

Nice, I have the same brush basically, but I tried doing the inside of my rims, reaches in there fine, however...I used straight simple green and it wouldnt even get off all the brake dust behind my rims Any ideas?

good tips! I do the same thing pretty much. I use a bucket of soapy nxt and use the meguiars spoke brush, which is huge and worksk great, plus the meguiars tire and wheel face brushes. I first wet the wheel and then spray meguairs wheel brightener acid 3:1 in the inside of the rim... only outside if needed or else its just nxt wash and apc if needed. I let the wheel brightener dwell for about 30-60 seconds then use the nxt wash to remove all of the stuborn brake dust.

I always try to upsell to the wheel sealant. It does two things: protects their wheels, and makes it easier for me to clean regulars. It`s a win-win (I win both ways).

$8.00 for 1gal. of Simple Green, dilute 4:1, comes out to 2 bucks a gal. and Rubber maid brush. 5 minutes to wash car, including wheels.

Nice tip on the brush SA. I`ll have to pick some up. I assume walmart would have them or do you get them some other place?

Thanks for the great tips. This is my weakest skill in detailing, I`m glad someone finally shed some light on it! Pharo, I have found the Rubbermaid CarWares line at Target. Not sure about Wal-Mart, but I`d believe they carry it too.

SAdetailer, that Super-Dress-It impresses me even more every time I see a pic you post. Just imagine the versatility with dilution ratios if it`s that glossy in its original form! BTW, does it look that wet after it has dried on the tire?

My methods are similar to Greg`s. On a regular basis I just wash my wheels with car wash soap. If it`s been a while between washes I use Zymol Wheel Cleaner. Once in a while I use the Megs Wheel Brightener to REALLY clean the wheels. After, I seal them with wheel wax. I don`t like to use the Megs WB too often because it`s acid. Therefore, it`s awful for the environment (and me) and it really tears up my throat.

The brush is at Target, not WalMart.

Quite a bargain & it works wonders on BRAKE DUST !!!!!

Actually, it works as well as any Wheel Cleaner I`ve ever used.
