We can rebuild him. We have the capability to make the world’s first bionic man. Better than he was before. Better Stronger Faster
My guess is that it is SS. I couldnt imagine an 87 being CC. I could be wrong though afterall I wasnt around in 87.
Greg
I had an 85 Cavalier that had CC, so Chevy was using CC back then, I don`t know it it was used on the rest of the GM family.
You could test a small spot and see if any color appears on your pad.
Gee, thanks Greg, make me feel old... I bought that 85 brand new

I know, I was just curious to know before I actually get there, the owner most likely does not know.Originally Posted by jaybs95

I owned a few monte ss back in the day and if I remmeber correctly they were single stage. I remember compounding the hood of my black one.
I was hoping it`s not SS, oxidized ss paint makes rotary work a pain :boohooOriginally Posted by Mike5959

That`s what wool pads are for.

Well, it was single stage black.
Not oxidized too bad but swirled terribly.
That link was right though...the paint was bad too...dirt under the paint, etc.
Any pictures of the detail?

Well, twist my arm.......
first 2 show massive swirls and holograms from who knows what in the past. Last pic is the finished product, sorry the shots are not the best quality.
Used PG on the rotary with polish pad (left some hazing as normal)
OP on the rotary and finish pad (left holograms btw :beat , use right before the LSP my arse...at least on ss black no way)
FPII on the PC to clean up from the OP
then CMW
About 80% of the swirls were removed, this was actually the worst swirled car I have ever done...usually PG takes out all the swirls, not on this beast. The owner was happy and I left paint on the car so all was well.
