So standard gov`t operating procedure - let`s try something because we don`t know how it will work. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, if something bad happens at least they can close the gates and try plan b. If the walls break, they lose all control.

The entire situation is mind blowing. I have an ex-gf who lives just south of Houston in League City, TX w/ her husband and 2 small kids. I hope they are ok and managed to get out in time.

An interesting turn of events for sure:

Terrible news on what is going on. I heard the last big storm in the area in 01 in total had about 34" of rain. This is the 2nd day and it`s passed that and expected to continue for 5 more days. I hope everyone gets the aid they need!

With all of the photos of sunken cars in the news you gotta appreciate the A+ effort this guy made:

Fingers crossed all 3 cars are high enough.

    Re: Hurricane Harvey

Things are crazy down here in the Houston area, I was very fortunate and did not experience any flooding on my street( me and some neighbors did take the time to clean our street before things went down) and my backyard suffered standard flooding that I managed to keep under control . Some streets on my same neighborhood though were under 2+ ft of water and no more than 4 miles from me it`s pretty much a disaster. It`s so sad for those who were barely getting up on their feet from the "tax day flood" as of the beginning of this year, to go through this once again so soon.

After Hurricane Sandy, where I lost 2 cars I would definitely invest in those huge zip lock bag car sacks.

20" of rain through last night. No water in the house but lost one huge oak tree. Saw the sun this morning for a few minutes. Hope we`re done here for awhile. We`re about 20 miles east of Austin. IMHO---Events like this sure make you realize that someone else is in charge.

What was crazy to see for me where the tornado(es) that touched down like less than 20 miles from me while we were getting slammed by rain already.

It`s lightened up here some, but I`m expecting no sunshine for like 2 more days.

My employer sent out an email today reminding everyone that the company will match your donation to any charity up to $3k, you just submit it and at their cutoff date in April the next year they review and match.

I thought that was pretty cool.

They were throwing out 30 billion yesterday on the tv, and that was a `should get it going` number for the recovery.

Houston is what..4th or 5th largest city?
