I was wondering if anyone knew of someone in Dallas/Fort Worth who handles minor bumper repairs. The wife got backed into and there are a couple of dime sized chunks of paint missing. I would like to avoid taking the whole car to a body shop if possible.

If you care about your car, make sure who ever you decide to use takes your bumper off to repair/refinish it. Spot refinishing is not a quality repair. The entire cover needs to be refinished.

I`m with you, David. A bumper-off complete respray is the only way to get a quality finish. If you have the time and patience, removing the bumper covers can be easily done with simple hand tools. If you prep the surface yourself, the costs can be minimal ($200-300) for a high quality respray.

Spot refinishing may have a role is lease turn-in cars, and other circumstances where mediocre results are acceptable.

    Update,

Good thing I wasn`t terribly proactive about this. She was out at lunch today and somebody wasn`t looking as they backed out of the parking space and took out the other side of the bumper. Unfortunately, the police say it is a no-fault accident, so we are likely out of pocket for the new bumper and repaint, but at least we only pay once now instead of twice!!

i agree with David - however, i have seen non metallic spot in`s that you could not find. if you have a metallic or "tri-color" or tint coat clear you will not be happy with a "touch up" spot in.

I dropped the car off with Aldo this morning. When he asked who referred me, he remembered exactly who you were. He seems like a great guy.

As an autopian, you will be quite pleased with his work. He is just as particular as we are, and that included the buffing that he and his people do.

Picked up the car yesterday evening. It looks great. Metallic light blue and even I can`t really tell the bumper has been repainted. Aldo was really great to deal with on top of all that. I would recommend it for anyone in the DFW area.
