    Heater for your Garage...?

I figured this would be the right spot to ask this question... I need to purchase a heater or two for my detail garage which is just under 550sqft/2-3 car max.
Does anyone have any knowledge or advice on what kind of portable heater would work well in heating this size garage quickly and comfortably? I`d like to get something electric....

    Thanks so much....

take a look at this thread i posted on GJ a couple of years ago.
this unit if i can remember correctly is rated for up to 600 sq ft.
the Dayton also is good for 10-12 ft or throw. that means 10-12 ft in front of the heater you will feel it blowing on you. there were a few members on GJ that installed fans to help better circulate the hot air. you can have 1 fan 10-12 ft in front of the unit & that will be great!

a portable gas heater does release something into the air. your garage walls will sweat if the door is closed all the way down. it can also make ya dizzy & give you a headache. remember, there are flammable products inside your garage that can also catch fire from the fumes.

    Chad,

That is a pretty decent price for an electric heater. How long does it take to warm the garage? I am looking for something small for my 3 car garage thats portable.

In my experience electric wont cause you any literal headaches. Propane and the other gases have lots of dangers with them. I heat my garage to 58 degrees. That is the perfect temp for doing labor. Of course my favorite place to work is in natural light out of doors and out of the Sun.

    Re: Heater for your Garage...?

I just installed a Sterling 45,000 BTU propane heater in my detail shop and love it. I looked between electric and gas and decided to go with gas and I`m glad so far that I did. It`s already got to 18 degrees here and the building stays very warm. I insulated it with Prodex insulation and got the heater from ACF Greenhouses.
