    Question Garage floor

My garage floor has a 2`x2` patch of old grease/oil that I haven`t been able to clean off. It is about 10 yrs old. Any ideas for getting it out of the concrete?

There are sweeping compounds in Lowes or Home Deport that should work in that area. You can try kitty litter, sawdust or a sweeping compound, but see what they had.

I`d pick up some Oil-Dri from the local NAPA or other parts store and let it soak up the gunk for a few days, then hit it with some purple power or other strong degreaser and a pressure washer to get the rest.

Following that you`d probably have to acid etch the concrete to really get rid of it all.

Zoom: I`ve tried all the usual dry products with no joy. I`ll get some Oil-dri in the Spring and see how that works.

My all time favorite is Lacquer thinner, allow to stand as long as possible, agitate, wipe up the oil. It will get it pretty darn decent but it takes time. That oil is soaked in, so your wet product has to follow it down there and loosen it up and bring it out. Wear out a brass bristle brush on there and you will be on your way.
Keep air movement in there, dont smoke, try not to inhale too much of the fumes.

Muratic acid... use as as the label says. Do several times on the soiled area & do a complete garage at the end. KEEP the cars away from any over spray when you apply it or pressure wash to clean. You don`t want a car with frekles !

Thanks for all the help guys. It`s Winter in Wyoming now, so all 3 cars are inside. I`ll have to wait till the weather warms up again. 3 cars in a 2 car garage gets crowded.

I have had some success with oven cleaner. It seem to lift and disolve the grease fairly well. Good Luck
