    Building a new garage

Just wanted to share some pictures and info on my new garage (we are finally with in sight of the finish). Stared the building process last spring what a pain it has been. It is 36` x 28` almost double deep bays with 10` x 8` garage doors.

First picture: no that`s not them digging the foundation, that is the new leaching field going in. We had to move our leaching field so we make a good usable space to put the new garage on. This was one of the biggest pains in the whole process, 2.5 acres of land but with hilly terrain and a vernal pool (puddle in the gully out back that has mosquito`s and salamanders in it) we were left with very little usable land. so pay engineers to come up with a plan to move the leaching field and pay a excavator to put in the new one and remove the old one.

    Pouring the foundation

Slow and steady Back filling everything

What do you know starting to look like a garage. this is where we are at as of 10/10/16

Wow! That`s awesome!!! I`d love to have a detached garage for all of my projects. Looks like you have a loft too? I don`t think I`d ever come into the house if I had a set-up like that...

Keep us updated on the progress. Looks great so far.

Nice! Looks like you are doing it the right way and won`t have to fix screw ups after the job is finished. Very nice.

Wow that`s beautiful. My neighbor one door down from me is actually doing the same thing. It`s like the "Graceland" of garages. Can`t wait to see yours when its all finished.

Are those living quarters above or just storage? That looks like a large undertaking, engineers, excavators, and a cool new garage. What type of heat are you installing?

Yeah has loft 36` x 18` with a little extra on the side with the dormer, Just storage for now. This thing has gotten out hand with all the problems and exterior extras I have added its already around double what I was expecting to spend. So for now it will just be a shell inside with electricity and lights. Over next few years I will insulate and sheet rock then maybe add some form of HVAC. I would like add a heat pump heat A/C combo unit to the attached garage, thats the garage for now thats going to get the fancy treatment. the detached garage is to store my boat and truck and keep them out the elements.

That is awesome ! I am officially envious of you beautiful garage.

As you go through this you will get a lot of good ideas from a website called garagejournal dot com.

I have used a lot of ideas I learned about over here in my own garage and home.

Best of luck and enjoy it on the best of health.

    Re: Building a new garage

That nice of a garage and no dedicated detailing bay with AC/heat?! And you call yourself an Autopian I`d take the loft for extra above ground storage and be very happy. I`m sure your truck and boat will be well sheltered.
