I have an oppurtunity for a detail this weekend, however before I call, I would like to know the lowest temperature you all would compound/polish/wax or seal. Please keep in mind that I am a mobile detailer. I know that the car is a white thunderbird (new one) and pretty good shape. I`m guessing polish/wax or seal, minimal compounding if any. Forecast for this weekend is highs in upper 50`s. Any advice would be appreciated.

I`m not a professional, but I’ve always heard the temperature of the surface you are waxing should be between 50 and 85 degrees for best results. I have found that I get better results on the cooler end of the range, but that may be because at 55-65 degrees I do a better job because I am more comfortable and not sweating all over the vehicle.

I prefer 70`s. If it`s 50* it might just take a lil longer to compound anything, especially with a PC. As long as you can stand it you should be ok. Ppl in FL are bundling up at 70* mornings...weird

I have recently been informed that the owner has a nice sized garage, might work out ok if I can wash and get in garage. Thanks all.

I`ve done details out in the open with temperatures in the low 30s the entire time. The main problem is I freeze my butt off...plus you really have to watch how wet you get any carpet or fabric because when it gets close to freezing, they take forever to dry if they get too wet. I really haven`t noticed any problems using polishes or waxes, other than sealants take longer to set up enough for removal.
