I could practice today but I only had 4 hours of sleep last night and have other important things to do today. Plus I`ve done 1 detail and washed my car when I got home. (before noon).

My car definately needs claying and it has no protection on it I realized drying the car.

I`ll pracatice on my car and my girlfriend Toyota Van

    Can`t wait!

Stop by a local body shop and ask if you can browse their dumpster for a damaged panel. Heck, they are throwing it away anyway!

Just don`t try to take it back when your done!

BTW, can you do a complete detail before Noon? What time do you start!

Hi Jim - thanks for the suggestion. That is what I was going to do & somehow I should listen to you, but I just have no way of having body panels around.

I will keep the rpm really low to get use to it and I`ll go from there.

I put some pictures up of the detail elsewhere - it was a 2 step exterior detail. I`ve done the interior weeks ago. I detailed from 7 am to 10.17 am.

I will let you know either way - hopefully I`ll have no problems.

I really want to be able to switch to the rotary to save time. I feel very comfortable with the pc, but I am just a little too slow. Hmmm.. With the kind of cars I work with, it is no wonder.

We are planning that for Thursday so that we can practice using it. Afterwards, we are going to correct the paint on his Maxima.

I think I am going to use Menzerna IP and FP to get the hologramming out of the Max. I am thinking of not running the Makita past 1 click over 2 (2 = 900 rpm).

Very nice! I really think you should take Jim`s advice about practicing on body panels. You can probably get them pretty cheap from a wrecking yard or body shop.

I heard a story once about a guy that was learning to hand pinstripe cars. He would practice on cars in the long term parking lot at the local airport. It probably wouldn`t be a good idea now with the increased security and video cameras..........
