I detail for pleasure and `spare` money

After you do 300+ cars a year it become work and it not very fun anymore. If I did not get pay for it I would not be detailing.

I do it for therapy from my regular job. I can`t say I have ever charged for my work.

I do it because I love the look and feel of a clean car.

Just a weekend hobby! I’d rather do what I not so love with a regular paycheck than do what I love and starve.:nixweiss

I respectfully disagree. I detail more vehicles than that in a year and STILL love it. Granted...one does get sick of seeing the nasty child playpen Suburban`s but when you get your hands on a nice Vette or a BMW it kinda makes up for it. :xyxthumbs

Pleasure! This is a hobby for me, and I mostly do my own cars. My day job is veterinary medicine, and while I find it challenging and rewarding, it is work for me. I detail to relax and get my mind off of work. If I was getting paid, and had to interract with clients, etc. I do not know how enjoyable it would be for me.

I`m a bit of a product whore and I need test cars to try stuff out on. I don`t mind doing it for free if I`m testing products. Detailing isn`t fun enough that I would do it all day long for free... the money is a motivator. How else am I going to keep myself supplied with all these products if I can`t make them work for me and earn their keep?

After more than 10 years detailing full time, I still sometimes can`t believe people pay me to do something I love doing!

Only detail my own car, and purely for pleasure and relaxation. I find it both meditative and gratifying, with the look and feel of polished paint being the final reward.

When I stop and think about the fact that I have been operating my own detailing business for more than 18 years, there have actually been many situations when I have told my customers that I should be paying them. This is especially true when I detail either a classic car or an exotic sports car like the new 645 BMW and when I`m just doing a dock-side boat detailing on a sunny summers day at the Jersey Shore.
