Took my somewhat messed up Passat to NY Detailer and he`s made my car beautiful. Here some history: About 2 1/2 years ago I took my car to a local car wash place for a full detail, and I got it back with these nasty "hologram-type" streaks. They would only appear in direct sunlight or flourescent lighting and would change shape as you move around. All the panels except the roof and trunk had these marks. The car hadn`t been detailed at alll since that time. Well, I finally decided to do something about it, and took it to NY Detailer to see what he could do.

I`m going to let the pics speak for themselves:

    Before 1:

    Before 2:

    After 1:

    After 2:

    After 3: (My favorite )

After 4: (Any one else think my paint looks cloudy? )

    After 5:

NYD was very meticulous in restoring the shine and did each panel one by one checking for defects in the light before moving to the next panel. Anyways, I would highly recommend him to anyone in the NYC/NJ area. His place in Staten Island is real easy to get to. Just watch out for the rabid beagles and the flying ants...

NYD: thanks for the great job and you were right, she does drive better now that she`s all dolled up...

Those marks, `nasty "hologram-type" streaks` as TimelessRider called, are they rotory buffer burns?

Those a swirls from a buffer, not buffer burn marks. Buffer burn marks are where the paint is damaged from the heat of the buffer. The paint can show heat spots. It also gets very soft so the buffer can quickly cut through the paint down to metal :eek

I know what the difference is in a swirl or burn. Maybe I didnt say it correctly. Tomato Tomahto. I guess its just my southern slang saying, That vehicle is burnt up from improper buffer use. Jason
