Business Plans...how many professional Detailers have made one?

A business plan is basically the building blocks for any business. I’m wondering how many here have created one and actually follow it? I personally think it’s the #1 reason why detailers not only fail, but can’t grow their businesses to a higher level. Basically, they live day by day without a roadmap to success.

Not here. But, I`m a part time detailer.

Honestly, though, I wouldn`t know how to make one for a service-based business. (Or any other business, but I can research a product-based one, I think)

Re: Business Plans...how many professional Detailers have made one?

There are a host of local organizations in most larger metro areas that will mentor small-business start-ups and help with writing a business plan. Most do have a nominal fee for doing so.
Unfortunately, this COVID pandemic has throw a money wrench into all small business plans and while hopes are pinned on the vaccine roll out, its current pace and snags have greatly tempered some of the optimism for getting back to normal in businesses and personal life. Not sure how much the pandemic has affected the detailing business.

There are three key things that factor into the legitimacy of any small US business:
    1) Being a registered business entity that pays taxes
    2) Having business insurance
    3) Having a website of your business services

While some may maintain that none of these are required, then I contend you and your "business" are an underground, shade tree, garage, or fly-by-night business that offers a service. While it may not be illegal for what you are doing, neither is it considered "legit" by local government authorities. Hey, there are always cash jobs or bartered services for detailing services that many "participate" in. You and Captain Obvious (that`s me) may call your detailing service a "hobby", but at what point is a hobby a business? Let`s just say I will leave that up to you and your conscience and your neighbors who have called the local authorities because they see all these different vehicles getting washed in your driveway.
