    Paper Floor Mats

Does anyone else use disposable paper floor mats? I think it gives a great professional look. If you`re a professional or even just a weekend warrior, I think it`s a must have. I`ve been using these 3M Interior Protection Automotive Floor Mat 36901 (Box of 250) on every detail and I think they look a lot better than the cheaper mats the dealership uses. Most people recognize 3M as a high quality brand, and they feel a little thicker than other mats I`ve seen.

On the bottom of the paper mat it says "Made in USA" and from "landfill-diverted paper".

In the future, it`d be nice to have a paper mat with your own logo and phone number.

You can even go to the next level and print your own in color for about $300

Are those ones coated? If not, they likely don`t handle getting wet very well. The ones I used have some kind of coating and hold up very well.

I dont use mats like those. I dont like them either. The ones that my mechanic puts in just slide around on the floor and annoy me like crazy. I like to have the heel of my foot planted real nice and firm. Plus they crinkle like crazy. I just dont see much benefit in them. But these are much better quality so maybe these are worth the money

    Re: Paper Floor Mats

Im only using coated paper mats to avoid touching clean floors and I always pull them out when the Client comes for the car..

I agree, no one should ever try to actually Drive with a paper mat on the floor, that`s just kind of crazy..

Perhaps a Client may want to have one on the passenger side and the back seats, but I would never want to leave one on the Driver side floor..

They keep the floor clean. I`d imagine that it wouldn`t be as much of a problem in a detailing shop but greasy/oily/etc. boots are pretty frequent in an actual auto shop. I could see some benefit with a coated paper mat for detailing, help keep wet feet off if your environment encourages it (if you have to keep the vehicle in one spot the entire process).

Personally though, I hate it when they leave them in after my vehicle is serviced. That`s to protect my car from them, it`s theirs, it`s their trash. I don`t need it, so take your trash out. Fortunately, I do most of my own work.

    Re: Paper Floor Mats

We use a paper mat printed from one of our local print houses with my shop name on it. I bartered with them. We did their vinyl lettering and they printed us 5000 of them.

    Re: Paper Floor Mats

It`s great to hear different perspectives on this subject. I like it when I pickup my car from somewhere and I see these mats on the floor, but I can understand why others don`t. Maybe I`ll ask the customer from now on if they want me to toss the mats before they drive off. That would be just another small detail I didn`t overlook . I remember when I picked my car up after the torque converter was replaced they had mats on the floor and I thought it was great. I told them to try and be careful not to get the car dirty since I try to keep it spotless and overall they did a great job besides a fingerprint or too on the hood. The mat just confirmed that they respect peoples cars.

I don`t think these 3M ones are coated but they`re thicker than standard ones I`ve seen. In the future, I`ll consider having ones custom made.

I use coated mats as well and leave them. Doing a black interior any dust just shows back on the mat. I also leave them so the customer knows I care.

    Re: Paper Floor Mats

For cars that will sit for longer periods of time on a dealership lot I have found that the nicer coated ones are much better. The cheep paper ones will get torn up by salesmen and customers getting in and out of the cars while test driving.

Seat cover, steering wheel cover and floor mat are all required at the local dealerships. The Service advisor walks the customer to the car and removes the protectors while the customer is standing right there.
Of course customer has the choice to have all removed or keep any or all of the protectors....

I use them on every detail. Tried a new brand this order and they are really good and seem to last.
