I`m 60 been detailing since I was 14. That could be a record on here though.

I`m 65 but did my last car for $$$ a year ago @64. Temps of 100º+ took their toll and I decided to give it up before I cracked the concrete floor in the garage with my head when I passed out.
When I retire from my full time gig, assuming they don`t carry me out feet first, I would love to do a few cars a month for some extra $$$ as long as I feel up to it. I actually get asked to do cars everyonce and a while but I turn them down as I have little free time and no insurance at this point in my life.

I`m 60 and thanks to my father who loved a clean car, I started my love of detailing very young. In those days IF you had a rotary it was a tied on wool pad, and DuPont rubbing compounds and polishes. 90% of what I did was all by hand with cotton rags and towels ( if I could sneak one from my Mom)
I`ve all but given up doing detailing for money anymore, the back and hands have made that decision for me. Now I can concentrate on my own cars!

I`m approaching a 72 and still do at a couple cars a month. I`m retired (and tired) and have chosen to quit doing detailing about 3 years ago and yet I still get all giddy when I detail a car. I`ve been detailing professionally since I was 17, that`s 55 years for the math challenged. Now it`s basically only family and close friends but arthritis is taking its toll. Lower back, neck and hands are a real problem, but how can I stop doing what I have a passion for? It`s true, detailing is a disease with no known cure other than death. When I go, I`ll be detailing those golden chariots up there or maybe something at the alternative location, LOL.

Its sad to see many of you having physical pains holding you back from detailing. Ive had to scale way back myself from jobs that are just to much for me anymore.
I know this will be a shock for younger people here but the body does break down after so many years
But its nice to see your hearts are still there and doing what you can in spite of pain and limitations!
