yeah i agree customers interpret detailing in their own way, i detailed a client`s car 1 time gave her a full 1-step package. when she picked up the car she was very happy and tried to write a check out to me by 1st putting her purse on the hood,----------shissssssshhhhhhhhh purse flew off the hood to the floor twice!! oh she just all giggles now, so she set the purse on the floor then tries to write the check and it too slides, i just put my head down and laugh. needless the say she`s still my customer today.

Dealers don`t seem to understand that there are more options than just a rotary. I`m not sure why, but I`ve worked at enough dealerships to know that they truly think that rotaries are the only tool to polish with.

Its not just dealers, but bodyshops also. I have tried so hard to show a friend who works at one that a DA leaves a nicer finish than what they are giving their customers with a rotary, and he still thought the rotary with its buffing trails looked nicer........

It`s a mindset. It`s the same mindset that people have concerning power and speed in vehicles. People think that big engines = big horsepower and speed. If you want to go fast, you need the new Mustang 5.0L, or a 6.2L HEMI. Fact is, there are much smaller engines that produce pretty high horsepower just the same, for example, Kia makes a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo that produces 285 HP. Not bad for a nice small engine that doesn`t drink fuel by the GPS (gallons per second).

I have a friend who owns a bodyshop and once I showed him how well that Ultrafina works, he ordered a case of it. His guys were leaving minimal swirls but they were still leaving them. Now they can finish out swirl free. Too bad he is an exception rather than the rule.

Like i told the manager at the MB dealer >>I`m able to get better results with my PCxp than they ever will with the rotary, it`s just a matter of using the right products and patience<<. This dude thought the PCxp was a machine to apply wax and had no other purpose because it doesn`t produce enough heat/power.

The main reason for dealerships and bodyshops to prefer rotaries over DA it`s beacuse they assume the rotary will produce excellent result fast!!:bat

In the right hands, the rotary can produce excellent results fast.

I currently work at a busy body shop and I can confirm that what you guys are saying is absolutely true. I always try my best to do what I usually do in my garage, but the boss always complains about time when I only spent 1 hr doing the inside. On another hand, the production manager, is not what I thought, he can tell what is a swirl from a squirrel.
