I have a customer who wants a clear bra installed + a clay/wax detail on his brand new car. What do you think the order should be? Wash, clay, clear bra install, wax? Or should it be Wash, clay, wax, clear bra install? I`m wondering if the wax would have any adverse effects on the clear bra adhesion to the surface of the car. Anyone had experience with this?

automints you want to wash and clay the car first to make sure you get all the contaminants and wax off the vehicle. Then, if required, polish out any imperfections to make sure the paint is properly corrected before applying the film. The paint must be clean and wax free for the film to adhere correctly. Hope this helps

Are you trained in installing a clear bra? The guys that I know that were certified to install certain manufacturer clear bras covered that in the training.

Personally, I am not certified/trained/educated in installing a clear bra so I do not offer it nor would I try to do it without knowing these things before hand.

I`m not installing the clear bra. Someone else, who knows how to do it, is installing and I`m just doing the detailing in between the installation.

I would call a place that installs it. If you aren`t sure where to look, call any car dealership and they can point you in the right direction. Some dealerships do it themselves.

If you think going straight to the source would help. Durashield is a company name you could look up and call.

They might actually use chemicals to remove/add whatever they need to install it anyways. It might not matter. Happy waxing!

Actually, I just thought of this after starting this thread. I asked the 3M Ventureshield manufacturer and I`ll let you know what he said, in case someone runs into this situation later down the line:

"You need to use an adhesive remover on all curves of the car or the clear bra will have a difficult time sticking to the car."

So, I guess no point of waxing the car before the installation.

if you put wax on the installer will remove it before he applies the film anyway. just perfect the finish and it`s good to go.
