Interior Plastics?????

I have been using Aerospace 303 on my interior bits and since being in Alabama the surfaces of the plastics have become very soft and scratch very easily. Almost feels like there is a soft gel coat on top of the plastics.



Have I used too much and is there anything I can do to stop this soft feeling???

I have seen that happen to some American Cars. I think using 303 is the best thing you can do.

I dont think its the 303, but the humidity and climate in alabama

I was assuming it was the humidity as well. I try not to touch much of anything until I get the AC going. Should I just chalk it up as humidity or should I spend more time cleaning and apply less 303? I am at a loss.



I looked at taking a picture and it cant really represent what I am trying to describe.



Oh yea I forgot...This is going on in my 2003 BMW M3.

I have an 04 M3 and the same thing happens to me. I believe it`s just a quirk of that car. It seems especially bad in the plastic by the parking brake lever and around the shifter console and cup holders. My car spent the first part of it`s life in FL, so humidity probably does have a lot to do with it. I`ve also seen a BMW parts site that carries replacement plastic interior panels and in their description they say that it`s for when your originals get scratched. Can`t remember if it was Tischer or somewhere else, but if they are mentioning that same scratching, it`s probably a pretty common BMW issue.

My BMW did that same thing.



Its a plastic coating they use, its very odd.



We attempted to dye a few interior peices on mine and a thin layer of plastic came off of mine. Turned to goo, wrinkled, and peeled off.

Yeah it sounds like the coating has come off allowing the lower rubber to be exposed.



Sounds like BMW needs to re-think their plastics.
