Different surfactants are formulated for different types of dirt and different types of surfaces. Not all surfactants are created equal. Machine dishwasher soap will take the lacquer off of wooden salad bowls (ask me how I know) for example. Hand dish washing soap won`t.
Dawn didn`t say exactly what surfactant they were using.
