I`m struggling with carpets. Floor mats are no problem because they`re flat and can be removed from the car for heavy duty scrubbing and extraction. But when I place freshly cleaned floor mats back in the car, the dirty carpets the mats sit on really stand out; especially in the two inches to the left and right of the floor mats, where beverages spill into. I`ve tried scrubbing carpets with a high foaming shampoo, and then extracting, but my extractor head is bulky and it`s awkward working in tight spots and corners.

How can I use my steamer? A microfiber wrapped around the triangular attachment? Just scrub in an X pattern with no chemicals?

Well, the carpets should be clean, regardless or your technique...

A steamer helps, but it doesn`t remove anything.

Stains are complicated and involved, and more than one approach is required.

I assume you`re using a good APC with your extractor.

    Consider the products from Bridgepoint.com

Their spotting chemicals, used properly, will get you through just about anything.

Look for a local distributor of Bridgepoint, they will be the carpet pros in your area, and a great source of professional advice, including seminars.

    Good Luck!

Yeah, steamers really just emulsify (certain) stains so you can get them out easier with something like an extractor.

I`ve DIYed some small attachments for my Century extractor to help be get in tight areas. Its one nozzle (the thin one) is good, but sometimes I need something even smaller. All you gotta do is neck down the extractor hose to where you can use smaller vacume attachments with it. You can`t spray, but you can extract once it`s already wet.
