Tried Something New (Air Freshener)

I`ve been playing around with a new air freshener idea recently. I purchased some leather scent air freshener in volume (gallon size), vendor not mentioned. It works quite well when sprayed/misted into the vehicle. I found it actually worked better (lasted longer) when sprayed on a Christmas Tree style freshener and hung in one of the traditional places. I then had the idea to stop by a local shoe store and pick up a scrap of leather and ran a chord through it. I sprayed this leather scrap with the air freshener and it really seemed to hold the scent for a long time. I`m not doing this for a living but the thought occured to me that pros might want to consider this method but have a piece of leather cut/stamped with their logo or business name. It probably wouldn`t be cost effective for all cutomers but for some of the better regular clients it might be a good idea. The scent actually lasts for a couple to several weeks when using this method. Next time the same vehicle is detailed just spray it again to freshen it up.

Leather seemed like the obvious choice for this, in fact that`s what made me consider this option. I`m sure any scent would work equally well. You would probably have to tell the customer that this is their PERMENANT air freshner so that they didn`t pitch it but depending upon what information was on the leather they could always have your "business card" on hand.

How long does this scent last? I`m going to be picking up the same scent from most likely the same manufacturer that you did. Just curious how long it lasts. A day, a week, a couple weeks?

Vender not mentioned crap, dont post on here if you want to share. if they have leather put it on the leather. If they cant remember your name then you did a junk job.

Who died and made you Autopia King? I`ll await your permission and run all future potential posts past you before I make a move. I was sharing an idea not promoting a product. This product is a scent not a leather conditioner and probably isn`t the best thing to stick on someone`s expensive leather seats. Your logic speaks volumes and I`m sure your work speaks for itself.

I indicated that I don`t make a living doing this, customers don`t need to remember my name. Others may find this idea interesting if you don`t who cares?

I suspect it probably is the same "GUYS" (manufacturer). I had mentioned in the original post that the scent lasted for at least a couple of weeks maybe a little longer. Between a week or two just misted into the carpet/headliner.

My bad got carried away when I saw "vender not mentioned" its silly if you ask me. So sorry for the sharpness, but its not a practical idea. The fact is someone who would pay for that wouldnt.

If you`ve been following this site for a while I`m sure you know that David would just as soon not have us discuss these "GUYS" (vendor). All the same this wasn`t my point.

I`m not suggesting that a customer pay for this. A detailer may have to be creative to provide a customized leather product but it doesn`t need to be expensive. I haven`t checked the price of leather stamps recently but Tandy used to make these for under $50 (one of the businesses I used to work with made leather key fobs that had their business stamp). Businesses pay for business cards, pens, key chains and other trinkets to get customers to remember them all the time this didn`t seem too far fetched. The shoe store/repair shop that I stopped in on would have given me handfuls of leather scraps.

By the way, I`m not even defending this a tried and true method. It`s just an idea.

Cool. I`ll be placing an order for the CHEMICAL, but not from the GUYS.... I`ll use Danasse...

I believe that Danasse sells some of their products also. I checked his site out (didn`t call him) but I didn`t see it in the gallon size. A gallon of this stuff only cost $10 or $11. I was pretty impressed with it`s longevity. WarnerChemical has quite a few more sents and it`s a buck cheaper. If you don`t mind post and tell me what you ended up with and how you like it.
