I`m starting a sidline detailing business this summer and was wondering if doorhangers were a good method for drumming up business. Any advice on these or other forms of less expensive advertising would be greatly appreciated.

They works on pissing people off. :hairpull Read some top marketing books on direct sales. You want to spend your time, and time is money, on something productive. Also forget about parking lot flyers unless you want a clean-up bill from the property manager.

I got back between 1-2% on flyers on doors and cars. I put them out on the days I didn`t have cars to detail. Several of my long term customers I got via flyers. Just did $300 worth of work for one of them this past Sunday and I handed him a flyer 11 1/2 years ago.

Just be mindful of no soliciting signs.

I hate getting stuff like that on my doors and porch but I usually ALWAYS read what it is. So you will at least be getting the word out.

Yes. The more exposure you have the more likely you are to get calls.

i also thought of putting flyers on a few cars. mainly the nicer ones like the BMW`s AUDI`s etc..

does this make the honda or Ford owner left out?

i dont want a cean up bill from the property manager so i was planning to just put out from 10-20 flyers a day.

hope you guys can give me some feed back. thanks!

Maybe a very professional business card with a little note on the back (if you don`t already have printing on the back), but I wouldn`t put flyers on nice cars....trust me.
