Redo..Poorboys Nattys Black Wax On Red: A first use review

Thank you gearhead for the heads up about the ` issue...

Got a call from an individual I haven`t heard from him in over two years but he remembered me when he wanted to clean up his Tacoma that he said he was going to sell soon.

I figured this would be a great chance to try the Natty`s Black Wax I recently received. Also a chance to see what it does to red.

First off if I have loved and repurchased everything I have ever used from Poorboys. If you haven`t tried any of their products or if you are on the fence about anything..go ahead and pull the trigger, you won`t regret it. And I`m not saying that because they sent me this wax, I tried them a few years ago because I needed sun friendly products..and now I find myself using their products even when I have access to a garage over my much higher priced choices.

This is my first experience with any Poorboys paste wax. Which now I have to admit I have been missing out on their paste waxes because this wax was extremely user frienly and a very easy wax to work with.

Smell: can`t think of anything particular except that it kind of strangely reminded me of clean laundry... Whatever it smells like it is not a foul smell at all. It smells nice.

Spreads very easily. It was overcast all day and sprinkling on and off. I did the truck backed up with just the hood area facing out of the garage so I could back up if need be although I really needed all the light I could get today.

    Truck was not very dirty.

    Uber rinsless wash (mmm cherry)
    then immediately
Onr clay lube + cobra clay towel ( 1st use-very nice product)
    Dried

I did half the hood, fender and driver front door then went back and wiped it off.
When applied heavy I noticed the black color of the wax contrasting with the red paint but it wiped into the paint and disappeared. It filled some very small marring but nothing major. He didn`t want to pay for a polish so I just clayed and waxed.

me like. a little help, sun? Is what I thought.

Did the entire rest of the truck then wiped off with a mf towel.

Applied with buff and shine notched wax applicator, my new favorite hand applicator by the way. Perfect place for your fingers in the middle.
just took this for the review.

    Snapped a few

I was running up against sunlight so I pulled it out and got some pics and later pulled back in and wipe the fender wells down, put natural look on all trim etc and PwS on the chrome, Pb glass cleaner on windows per my normal routine.

Yet again spoiled by the clouds but his landscape helped even the photo opp value a tad.

    Roof

    Beads...

Very happy with the results. I look forward to using this wax again on my friend`s back challengers.

Thank you for giving me the chance to use this wax.

How would this play with layering with other Natty`s pastes? I have wanted the red for some time now.
I also use EXP a lot so may need to top that, but how long to wait?

I know I`ve said this before but WOW, those results speak for themselves. Tiny little beads. Very nice.

Yeah that`s about as big as I could get them spraying distilled water on them before they gathered weight and moved.

You see that one impatient large bead running away

Thanks. I`m hoping I can use PwS soon and top that with Nattys Black. I think that or maybe even EXP before would be a killer sun friendly combo to use mobile.

I will have to try this one. Black waxes always seem to impart a darker shine to reds. Good choice.

thanks. I figure red might be as `light` as one should go but I would experiment on a dark brown if available.

yep.. I`d say it was a perfect storm of good timing, got the wax Thursday, this guy called Friday.

after claying, the nattys wax really brought that old paint back,,it needed polishing to really shine though but I wasn`t going to throw that in for free- but that says a good deal for this wax`s ability if you ask me. really gives a nice liquid sheen

Kinda disappointed about the "clean laundry" smell. My gf sometimes catches me in her garage sniffing the Black Hole or the Liquid Natty`s Blue.

Like, you, I do like PB products! Reminds me, I should order another bottle of BH soon!

    Thanks for the review
