I sort of played hookie yesterday (Had a Dr. Appointment in the AM, felt worse after the Dr so I stayed home, felt a bit better after laying down for a while, feel so-so right now) so I finally cleaned up the Mazdaspeed3 with the new wax.

Car was washed 3 days ago,at a coin op and then I wipped her down with a ONR QD.

Then Klasse All In One paint cleaner was applied with a Dual Action Polisher and a medium white pad

Then I taped the roof off in half, I want to do a comparison with my old sealant, NXT 2.0 and the new UW. I`ve always used NXT as my sealant and I`ve regularly seen 6+ months of protection from it on my personal cars.

UW applied with the DA and a brand new Meguiars Finishing Pad

NXT applied with the DA and my old grey finishing pad.

    Pics: New hawtness

Roof taped off. Pass side will be UW and the Drivers side will be NXT

Dabs of the UW on the pad

I then dab the pad on the section of the paint to preload the wax

Run the DA on 3 to spread the UW nice and evenly. THIN EVEN COATS is the KEY!

I did the rest of the car the same way then I moved onto the drivers side of the roof with NXT. I push the applicator pad 2-3 times into the container and then dab that onto the roof. I usually use liquid NXT but late last season when I was running out, this was all I could find, so I`m still GETting used to using it, I should have only done 1-2 dabs in retrospect.

Spread it like the UW on 3 in the DA.

Both side curing on the paint. Since it was only in the mid 30`s, I let it cure on the paint for over an hour.

I wiped both the UW and NXT with a MF bonnet and a medium pad misted with QD. Here are some after pics. Again, I`ll update this regularly with pics regarding the longevity of UW vrs NXT.

Not a fan of paste wax in general.

So far I can`t tell a difference on the roof between the 2.

Not really a "longevity" update, but an update of sorts. Almost 2 weeks and I finally had the chance to wash my MS3 today. I only had time for a quick coin-op touchless wash. No extra quarters, just the 4:00 they give you. About 2.5 mins with the soap, 1.5 mins with the rinse and a quick 30 second "spot free rinse" to finish her off. I snapped these 2 pics with the iPhone right after the time was done and you can see a clear difference in how the waxes are treating the paint and beading.

Again, the NXT paste on the left, new UW on the right.

Decades ago, Accumulator sneezed on a car. The owner noticed that his car was imbued with something today this substance is called clear coat.

UW on the right appears to have left a better film of protection. I`ll probably try the paste.

No major update. The few times that the car has been parked outside when it`s rained, the beads seemed the same. No change in longevity yet, but it`s only been 3 months.

Any updates? Conclusion? I`m thinking of trying the UW but I probably shouldn`t.

my experience with UW is that it is a pain to buff off. I tried on a Ford and a Nissan with the same results. Warm day, in the shade, let it set for about 20-30 minutes. Won`t use it again for that reason alone. longevity... don`t know, I apply fresh coat every 8-10 weeks anyways. Might make the paint look a bit darker, hard to tell, nothing special at any rate.

Paint is still beading nicely, though I have been doing almost 100% ONR washes every few weeks, so part of the slickness/beading is from ONR. The roof, there is still no noticeable difference on either side. I will be reapplying UW in the coming monts for winter protection.
