I am exited to see this forum is getting more and more interesting. Maybe someone from IDA should tell us why to became a member to their organization. I am sure there is a lot of advantages.

    Welcomepture:

Welcome to the world of Autopia. Even though there`s a long road ahead, with the support of our members we will hopefully make the IDA "the" credible source for detailing certification and validation. Looking forward to your member`s participation and amicable growth between both entities.

    Welcome IDA,

We should be supporting this association to help the detailers in many ways. Soon there will be posts from the association board explaining those benefits.

I agree David Autopia will be a great home for this association.

    Good luck,

    Tunch Goren

Welcome aboard. After looking through the members list I only recognized one person - Renny Doyle. Will be interesting to see how many people join that are well known on the forums. Also, I`m interested in knowing how this will tie into the general consumer population? How many customers are going to ask "Are you a certified detailer?".

I think this is a great for both entities. Many professional careers have certifications and such. In detailing there is none that I know of on a national level except for the IDA. Often we look at things like this and say "Whats in it for me" The problem with this is we as a community should say " How can I help out? "

For myself when I`m trying to sell a customer the biggest point that takes them over the top is education as a whole on what I`m doing. I increase the customers awareness with my services. Although the IDA has been around for sometime now, I never once looked at it and said, what can I do for them. I always looked at like what am spending money for? I think by participating with them we as a community of detailers can bring what we do to a new level with in time. They have a lot of valide points on there website and a lot of great goals. The only way for something like to futher expand is with the help from others. Building credibility isn`t easy, maintaining it is even harder. I never once heard something bad or dissapointing about the IDA. I think I may join and see what it is I can do to help futher there process. I wish them the best of luck. Again to the team at IDA welcome aboard.

i cant explain all the info and advice that ive gotten by being a member of autopia. the knowledge base here is most likely 1 of the best places to get proper information on detailing a car. with the addition of the ida and the positive things they are trying to do, and what they already accomplished, this is a definite win-win for everyone. welcome aboard ida and lets make things happen

That is a great post Barry and you make a lot of excellent points. Thank you for your insight. It may take a lot of time but maybe something like this will become a standard and will help separate those that are passionate about this profession from those who do a quick start up business to make ends meet, not caring about what they are doing in the process, then leave customers with a sour taste in their mouth about detailers. I`m looking forward to more info about this association .
