Maybe I miss some things from the years I was away ... but back in the days, Todd has been awesome with me (especially since I am in Canada and communication is not that easy beside chatting on forum).

He even purchased some `exclusive` US products and shipped them to me without asking anything in return.

Re-read the posts from Bryan, Bob, David and Chad.....and then try to read between the lines. `

Wow so much hate about Todd ... he must has done something bad to the folks here on autopia.

You guys must have your personal reason to react like this against Todd I guess.

Don`t get me wrong, I am not judging anyone here ... I know all of you, I`ve been here for a while (even If I don`t post much), I know what everyone is capable of (Bob, Chad, Bryan, David), but Todd is capable of achieving the same kind of quality work IMO.

    `

He might have not as much experience than some experienced people of the detailing industry, but he definitely can achieve top notch results.

It`s not like if he was a scammer or something.

I am NO trainer, I am a detailer, I told Mike that. I did offer for him to come by and we can work on some paint.`

    `

He came down for a couple of hours. We hung out and played with some paint. We corrected out 3000 grit sanding marks with M205, very cool, thanks Kevin Brown! Then we corrected some DA haze with HD polish, and then applied some coatings. We even went as far as leaving high spots in a couple of coatings -and fixed those.`

    `

Mike isn`t a brand new detailer, he has been doing this for a couple of years in a more volume based manor. `He knows how to correct paint, and knows what needs to get done to do it the proper way.`

    `

We chatted, and there was no way I would charge him, it wasn`t a class, just for us to hang out and play with some paint. I am sure Mike and I will be in contact for years to come, if it be giving me a hand, or helping him out on some cool cars.`

    `

Mike thanks for coming down, hope I showed you some stuff! Get to the next NXT! Kevin, Jason, Michael, and the others can`t be beat!!

Thanks for the kind words and the help Greg!

    `

    `

I definitely learned a thing or two; I would have never guessed that M205 could provide so much correction in such a short amount of time while leaving a pretty refined finish, we worked with a few coatings, etc etc.

    `

I think it goes without saying, but I`ll say it anyway: Greg is definitely a stand up guy and a positive reflection of Autopia as a community. It really helps to receive some guidance from an established, highly capable detailer who is generous with his knowledge, time and even products (thanks for the samples!).

This is what makes Autopia great, for that I thank you!

NXTi is a must attend course for anyone in the paint correction field. The value, quality of attendees, and overall exclusivity makes the experience one of a kind. Also think working with better detailers than yourself is huge! Education is education, but minor tips or methods you can steal is amazing.

There has been no hate or negativity. Just suggestions about going to the people who have pretty much written the book.

cant really see a reason why NOT to go to Todd to learn a few things...I`ve talked with him a lot in the past and he has no doubt helped me in more ways than one regarding business decisions...product, machine, coatings, marketing, etc.

Creating a detailing business is a lot more than just being able to work a polisher!

Eric remember you`re Andy P situation?, the learning curve should have flattened after that. Quit looking for "The secret`s" of the biz…………..and first be able to do it at a high level and charge fairly, then lastly present a image of being a pro to the client and everything will fall into place.

2 things you need to keep in mind:

    1) trainer to student ratio

    2) does the trainer fit your style

    `

    1) trainer to student ratio:`imo, there is a huge difference between training 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 as compared to 1:20 or 1:5. So although you may be paying a cheaper price for more `advanced` training (whatever that is for you), you want to look at how much time will actually`be focused on`you

    `

    2) does the trainer fit your style: if you want to take a class for the sake of taking care of your own ride, then you really shouldn`t take a class with Renny/Todd.. someone like Mike would be a much bitter fit cause you get to play with a bunch of tools/products and it isn`t really business orientated.. and of course, vise versa`
