Update on the Milwalkee 5460
I used the Milwaulkee on a Silver 1995 BMW 5-series, and a Burgandy 1989 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC. I found that the machine is a bit heavier than the Dewalt 849, but the motor is so smooth and powerful. I did some serious cutting on the SEC and found that the 5460 is a pleasure to work with on the horizontal panals. I did see a bit of a difference working on the verticle panals with the Dewalt being a bit easier to manuver. This could be due to the fact that I have been using the 849 since the year 2000 and I have just grown acustom to that model. I also immediately removed the side handle on the 849 and learned to guide that buffer by gripping the top of the buffer and I feel that this gives me better control than the side handle. Overall the Milwaulkee seems like a great machine, and a friend of mine who details boats in Long Island NY has already offered to swap me my new 5460 for a brand new Makita. I think I`ll try the Makita for a day before I make my decision.
