Degreasing ~GREASE~ splattered car

I must have hit something overnight - a can/jar of grease. This is fairly thick grease. Most of it is on the wheelwheel and there are splatterd marks on the paint.

I did not want to *touch* it, so I gave it a heavy dwelling of APC 2:1 on both the wheelwells and paint 3:1 on the wheels. 2 Liberal passes with the pressure washer. It removed some of the grease. Most of the wheels is clean, but it seems to have left some weird etch/stain on my powdercoated wheels.

Paint still has residue as well as the wheelwells. What stronger cleaner would ya`ll step up to next. Purple power straight ?

If it is a front wheel drive car, you should check the outer CV boot. If it is split or torn you will have heavy grease in the exact same areas. Just a thought.

Checked the boots. It`s fine.

Telltale for front boot is actually grease on the inner wheelbarrel.

For me, I noticed that there was gunk on the wheels and some weird spray pattern on the passenger side. Upon closer inspection, was the hotmess under the wheelwell

You might now want to, but you`re going to have to `touch it.` Grease is pretty tenacious stuff. I have used Castrol Super Clean/Tough Task (OTC) in the past with good results on grease, but you do have to use some manual agitation to get it all.

I wouldn`t use any "strong" cleaners on paint; like some OTC APC that may stain/etch paint - it`s not necessary. I would simply use a paint safe solvent type product like TarX or mineral spirits to wipe it gently off the paint - then wash the car.

You could even use a bucket and a towel with a strong mixture of DAWN. Remember - it takes grease outta yr way.

I would go with Stoner`s Tarminator.

Kerosene or mineral spirits will cut all the grease, and it wont hurt the paint.
