This worked great on my alloys

After reading through some of the posts I had a hunt and realised I didnt have anything to clean my wheels with. They are a matt finish alloy and were extremely dirty.
So I decided to take a chance, after washing them twice I tried a `bug and tar remover` as a cleaner for my wheels. It worked great, with only a cpl of stubborn spots requiring a second treatment. It removed all the tar as you`d expect and all the brake dust and dried on cow effluent and left them looking better than they did when i picked up the car from the dealers!!

Now that you have them spotless, use a sealant on them like Wolfgang, Klasse, Four Star, Blackfire, or Poorboys EX-P. This will make future cleanings easy with soap and water. If you don`t want to seal them, get a nice, safe wheel cleaner like P21S or Detailer`s Pride and clean them at least once a week. Hope this helps!

I third the motion to protect the wheels, I had always just washed mine and when I finally started waxing the wheels it has made it so much easier to clean, and during the week you can spray them down to remove most of the dust and such.

Dare i say my husband got my car filthy. We live on a dairy farm and he, in his great wisdom, decided to drive my little black 4wd sports car down the main race!! (for those who dont know a race is where the cows walk daily to the shed). This is after a major rain, so think caked mud and cow s#*t all over my car. :(

So would just a normal wax/polish to protect my wheels do, or should i use a glaze product? Not living in the US of A I dont have access to the products you have mentioned.
