And then... There was a G8
Just saw on the Griot’s What’s New page that they’re rolling out a new 2”/3” polisher - The G8.
8mm orbit, comes with both 2 and 3” backing plates. 700 watt, 6 amp motor. Quick disconnect cord and digital speed control like the G9. Trigger switch with speed dial.
Should be interesting to see how this fits for people looking for a smaller machine.
Re: And then... There was a G8
Hopefully it drastically out performs the GG3.

GG3 = 240 watt motor and a 5mm throw
G8 = 700 watt motor and an 8mm throw
I`m guessing it will
Re: And then... There was a G8
Forgot to add - $129.99. Nice to see them keep the price one the lower end.
Re: And then... There was a G8
Not exactly the replacement for the iBrid I was hoping for but I`ll get one any way.
Re: And then... There was a G8
Ah, this sounds great...perhaps Accumulatorette will get me one for Christmas :D
Re: And then... There was a G8
I’m told it’s a phenomenal machine, far outperforms the current 3 inch.
Re: And then... There was a G8
Wow, somebody was listening to me in that Flex PXE 80 thread, pretty cool it only took them a week to come up with it ;)
Re: And then... There was a G8

Eh, that might end up being my sentiment too :(
This looks more like a replacement for my Rupes Mini than for an iBrid; I really want to use 1-2" pads and I can do OK (not as well, but...OK) with my 3" GG pneumatic (much better than the GG 3" electric I have, which is basically junk).
Not saying I might not, uhm...accumulate...one anyhow, but I`d be a lot more interested if they offered some smaller plates/pads for it.

This sounds like job for the 16V Diavolo! If you have not seen my post on this $139 cordless polisher, check it out (https://www.autopia.org/forums/machi...hlight=diavolo). (OK. just looked and you did comment in that thread.) I will say I have not used it extensively yet (just getting to be detailing season here), but I liked it when I polished my headlights (2" pad) and my 3rd brake light (1" pads).

Was just watching their video from SEMA booth, and they said both 2" and 3" backing plates will be included.

Re: And then... There was a G8
That baby could replace my Swirl killer. It would be a much better machine, by far !
My only draw back...the Swirl Killer is a 12mm throw.

Cool with the 14 mm fitting, but gotta pass on this one..........:thought:

Re: And then... There was a G8
mc2hill- But isn`t the Diavolo a rotary-only unit? I want a RO/DA.
Setec Astronomy- Yeah, I saw that, but I have lots of options for 3" and if I`m getting yet another polisher I want it to handle smaller than 2".

Ahh, very true, the Diavolo minis` 16V and a iBrid-looking 12V are rotary tools.
