Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
Wow. I know they tell you to be very careful with Optimum Power Clean, especially at full strength, about letting it dry on glass because it will etch. Sounds like 409 may do the same thing. Sounds like the only option maybe to carefully use a glass polish by hand between the defroster lines...good luck.
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
You may want to try a liquid carnauba wax. They have light cleaning abilities. You can use it on the glass and scrub it a little bit with the wax on an applicator pad, shouldn`t harm the defroster lines if you are careful either. If that doesn`t work, then what Setec said. Have to be careful with the defroster lines and a glass polish because it is abrasive--may be worth masking off.

I`d be afraid pulling the masking tape off could pull up the defroster line...but that all depends on the tape, how long it`s been on there, and how hard it was pressed down.

300- Welcome to Autopia! Yikes, sorry to hear about your oops, that could be an expensive lesson if you can`t remedy it.
Are the defroster elements *on* the glass or *in* it? This`ll be a lot easier, well...less risky.. if the former.
I have no suggestions..but I`d be inspecting it under magnification before I did anything.
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
The wires are on the surface :(
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
Find one spot that is not near any defroster wires..
Take something really small, like a Q-Tip, apply your product, and see if you can make it go away..
This is - Glass - you are talking about, and Not Plastic, right ??

Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
I would try some G4 if nothing else I tried worked.

I`ll do that. It is glass. `18 Chrysler 300.
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
A plastic polish might work but keep it off the defroster.
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
I`ll give it a shot, thank you.
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
OK. What is G4? :)
For some reason this won`t connect to the related post :(
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
Gtechniq G4 Glass Nano Polish. That should of linked to it on AG for a complete description. It is their prep for coating windows.
Re: Messed Up Rear Window...
What kind of car? Sounds like you are in for a butt ton of work that may not pan out.... cost vs effort(plus maybe cost anyway). If your time is money I would check it out. If not.... polishing between the lines........ well good luck my friend. I hope some pro has some good news for you.

A toothbrush might help stay between the lines
