Hello from the salty state of Minnesota
Hey guys I`m Mike,
I am pretty new to the detailing world. I am pretty proficient at automotive mechanics and basic car wash techniques and rules and products. But I want to really dig deeper into the detailing world of clay bar work, paint correction, polishing techniques and compounds and just general knowledge on the intricacies of detailing.
My current vehicles I want to do some serious detailing to are a 2012 Subaru WRX in Lightning Red, NA Mazda Miata in Mariner Blue, and a 2018 Subaru WRX in metallic blue.

Hi, welcome to Autopia. Nice cars with soft paint. Looking forward to some pics.

Welcome, and there`s definitely a plethora of knowledge on here from some very smart people.

Welcome. You came to the right place. Some of the colors on the WRX`s are extremely soft. I`m sure someone will let you know if that`s one of them.

roepke414 (AKA, Mike) Welcome!!
My suggestion for getting started in detailing: invest in good car washing equipment first, since that is what most detailing hobbyist do the most. That includes a car drying blower if you can afford it, OR a dedicated (not for yard work) variable-speed leaf blower if you want to "cheap" it. Quality wash mediums (like boar-hair brushes, wool mitts, microfiber chenille mitts, or grout foam sponges), a variety of brushes, and drying microfiber towels should be considered as well. Also consider dedicated wash mediums, brushes, and towels for wheel well/tire/rim use only.
Not knowing where exactly you are in "salty" Minnesota, you may want to consult RASKY1 in your home state for his expert detailer`s service for whatever reason.
Are WRX`s a year-round sports car for you or merely for winter-use, and then the Miata comes out in (late) spring/summer/(early) fall. Winter salt will eventually rust ANY vehicle driven long enough in that environment, no matter how good you TRY to take care of it.
