GTechniq C5 Wheel Armour Review - short
Today I installed GTechniq C5 Wheel Armour on my new Macan. My 2018 Macan is just over a month old & I wanted to give a ceramic coating a try to see if I can get longer and more durable protection then a wheel wax. I heard about C5 from the "Forensic Detail" YouTube review. Given the relatively low cost (thanks to Autopia sale) I had to give it a try!

I applied the coating inside my new garage with the garage door partially open for ventilation. First I washed and dried the wheels. Then I prepped using Gyeon Iron & Gyeon Prep.

Inside you get a small bottle of coating (enough for approx 8 wheels) & 4 applicator pads.

Here is my wheel post- prep. Porsche calls these 19" Macan Turbo wheels. I call them Wine Bottle wheels!
Note the Porsche crest. It always comes from the factor pointing to the valve steam.

The coating applied quickly and smoothly. Once you finish one wheel, you lightly go over the wheel with a microfiber to level.
It`s recommended that the wheels be removed for application. Since I was able to reach inside the barrels (except for one small area by the caliper) and didn`t want to invest in a lift or torque wrench I decide to apply with wheels one. Wheels off would have been best, but I got 98% coverage.
As you can see even the "clean wheels" showed dirt on the applicator pads. I used just over 1/2 bottle, just about right amount.

I hope this coating proves to be helpful. If so, my wife would like me to install some on her Cayman.

If you run out of C5, C1 is the same thing.

I think you will be very happy with the results and ease of maintenance!

Used Optimums ceramic coating when it was still being offered to the public.
Worked just fine and never really wore out.
Whatever was on the wheels, brake dust wise, came off easily when washing the rims.
Was on my wheels until I had them powder painted.
Think you`ll be quite satisfied with the C5.
