TSS Auto Detailing, Pittsburgh PA: Ford King Ranch F450 HUGE RESTORATION
This owner is a huge Ford lover. His entire truck fleet are Ford dump trucks and his personal King Ranch has unfortunately been used on the job more than he`d like. So I was asked what it would take to bring the truck back to it`s former glory. We discussed a very comprehensive amount of work which required about 4 days to complete. This truck took HOURS to decontaminate. I pulled out everything in the arsenal, Nanoskin DA pads, purple clay bars, wax n grease remover, lacquer thinner, fallout remover. Ford paint is super tough; despite the aggressive onslaught, I was shocked how there was no micromarring left over. The body was polished with a Flex 3401, Rupes Yellow pad and CarPro Essence, then topped with Gtechniq C2. I simply wanted to improve gloss, not fully correct. Wheels and chrome trim were cleaned with P21S polishing soap.
The inside was a dusty mess, I alternated between a vacuum and Tornado to remove as much as I could. Once complete, I fired up my VX Steamer and scrubbed the dash/upholstery with that and Megs APC. The King Ranch seats were treated with Leatherique, left to soften overnight, steamed and cleaned the following day, leaving a supple, rich finish. Onto the pix:

Front bumper restoration included scuffing, air brushing new paint and clear then applying Gtechniq C4 trim restore on the plastic. Since the clear was applied using a rattle can, there was quite a bit of texture. However it was a well accepted trade off to the heavily pitted/rusted, previous version.

Huge ding on the driver door, I sanded the rust a little, applied body-matched paint with a plastic squeegee (a-la Dr. Colorchip method) and leveled with lacquer thinner, then polished to a glossy finish.

Much of the decon process was spent in the fender wells

Fender wells sprayed with black trim paint, this greatly improved the look of the truck:
