Any bourbon/whiskey drinkers here?
Been somewhat interested in trying out some. Some nights I feel like just having something to sip on and not mixing drinks. Any suggestions for something that won`t break the bank? Don`t wanna spend big bucks on something that ends up tasting like gasoline lol
Re: Any bourbon/whiskey drinkers here?
Eagle Rare is great and right at $30. Four Roses does a small batch thats about that same price, also stellar. These are my go to`s when I dont feel like shelling out for Blanton`s, which is pretty much always except for rare special occasions.
Re: Any bourbon/whiskey drinkers here?
I`ve seen the 4 roses tossed around quite a bit as a good beginner bottle. May see if I can find that
Re: Any bourbon/whiskey drinkers here?
Woodford Reserve is my drink of choice when talking bourbon. Family friend swears by Wellers 12 year or Special reserve.

I`m more of a Canadian whiskey drinker....
on the cheap side: R&R reserve (tastes like watered down crown) ($15 or so for a 750)
moderate: 40 Creek ($30 or so for 750ml)
expensive: (sipper) 40 creek double barrel reserve ($79 for a 750ml or so)
Bourbon: woodford with some gran marnier is nice

wellers 12 year or special reserve is 107 proof I believe, maybe that`s why they swear by it...tastes like lighter fluid to me..used to drink it though college
edit: actually I`m thinking of wellers antique 107 I believe
Re: Any bourbon/whiskey drinkers here?
Another vote for Woodford Reserve.
Re: Any bourbon/whiskey drinkers here?
I have had Knob Creek, Makers Mark, Makers 46, Devils Cut, Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam Black and a few others. I can`t say one is much better than the others. Makers Mark has a unique taste, that might be my favorite.

Yes, important distinction on the type of Wellers to get. The cheaper stuff def has the aroma of butane, with a "spicy" mouthfeel :)

I`m not a big bourbon 🥃 drinker, but when I do I always reach for Basil Hayden`s... great sipper [emoji106]!

It`s a good beginner Bourbon. Very light

Basil Hayden`s 8 is very mellow and good. My new favorite after trying it early 2016 is Traverse City Whiskey which runs about $35-48 depending on where you find it. Very easy sipper. No need for a splash or a cube. I actually just picked up a bottle a couple hours ago along with Rowan`s Creek bourbon which I have not tried yet but will be in the next couple hours along with a cigar. I also love Eagle Rare (might be too much for you in the beginning), Four Roses (Bourbon, small batch or single barrel-love them all) and 1792 small batch.

Costco just re-released their Canadian Whiskey. It is super mellow but a great bargain at $20 for a 1.75L
