3d towel clean - not removing stains.
I have notified that 3d towel clean is not removing the stains from the microfiber towels. The towels them selves are clean and soft but stains are still there. Those stains are mostly I would say grease and brake dust stains and the like. The wash cycle I use is prewash with no soap added to get the existing chemicals out, wash, and then extra rinse.
Is there something I am doing wrong?
I am expecting too much?
Thanks,
Chris

I`ve found some stains, usually "black stains" and some red ones, are simply indelible. Hardly ever a functional issue, but that`s just how it goes for *me* and IMO !YMMV! really applies here.

FWIW- I was using Towel Kleen a lot - a whole gallon
I got 16oz of Poorboys micro wash solution (typhoon-I believe) and it works better at removing stains on the towels
Towel Kleen is now used for my less dirty micro washing duty or given to clients.

I`m in this camp as well. Neither 3D Towel Clean or the Micro-Restore Microfiber Detergent I used previously got the towels 100% clean.
I presoak them in a pail of hot water and OPC for about an hour and try to rub out as much of the stains by hand before throwing them in the washer. I also some white vinegar for the rinse cycle.

+1 on some stains not coming out. I just dedicate those towels to "general use".
Re: 3d towel clean - not removing stains.
Towel Kleen was (is) good, but I found that Poorboy`s Typhoon was better. It got them cleaner and left them softer in the end.

I find that if you hit the towel with some degreaser of your choice first during the pre-wash-soak step, it takes out more stains. Not sure if that detrimental to the towels performance tho, I usually demote strongly soiled towels anyway.

I like using a strong APC for spot cleans, but I make sure I do an extra rinse cycle.

Yeah, same here. I`m using my (old, discontinued) EF High Intensity for the pretreating, scrubbing gently with a Denture Brush.

Well, that explains the soap taste in my mouth and blowing bubbles during a conversation ;). I also use APC on the stains and also to the wash. The second rinse is pretty much mandatory.

I take a bar of Lava soap, lather up the black stains and do the old fashioned "wet and scrub together" with my two hands until it comes out. Rinse and toss in the 3D wash with the others.

davidc- Heh heh, gotta keep those brushes segregated :D Not that Accumulatorette or I have dentures..
The 2nd Rinse is something I have to overkill, my soft water probably factors in there. I just keep doing rinse cycles as needed.
John U- No worries about some of the Lava`s pumice getting caught and causing issues? Somehow that tweaks my paranoia meter :o
Re: 3d towel clean - not removing stains.
I add a scoop or two of washing soda (Sodium carbonate) with my towels and removes most stains

Pretty much sums it up.
I have both and when it`s really bad I add APC but even then some are just in there...
Re: 3d towel clean - not removing stains.
A towel cleaner can only do so much cleaning! It`s designed to dissolve soiling, but if a towel is stained chances are that stain has altered the color of the towel. Sort of like if you spilled a dark (black) liquid over a light gray floormat. You can try powerwashing that darkness out, but chances are the darker substance has recolored the lighter fabric. Doesn`t mean it`s not clean. Just recolored.
